Showing my anorak side, you'd be surprised how many of these turn up on flickr, and there is a group of nothing but street names. They do remind you of home, and I take them with enough surroundings so you can see the roads themselves, and stick to my favourite places. A decent example like the one in my room here would fetch about £150, and there's a shop in Kings Road Chelsea selling loads of them. This one's right in the middle of Golders Green.

This pond is only a 15 minute walk from my house. It's fed by an underground stream and I think that's why it is still there. Now it's a protected wetland.

If you look closely you can just make out the two ducks (one is flying) in the lower right of the photo.

I am sure some people would have thought me rather odd taking a photo of the stones near the top of the slipway, oh well.

This is the first bloom I have in my garden this year, other than a few small blue flowers that I'm not sure aren't weeds... I'm not much of a gardener, so if anyone can tell me what this is, I'd be grateful

It is a hyacinth. Normally they are much fuller but I have some which are like that.

Yes, Liz that is a hyacinth in need of a little TLC, I think.
Here is the original Kookaburra, sitting in an old gumtree, which I saw in the Koala sanctuary near Melbourne. I will post the Koala pics later.

So that's what a kookaburra looks like.

We've just had our first fall of rain for a few weeks, so I'm staying at home today. Here are a few cowslips photographed on Tuesday.

My camelias were looking a bit dowdy, so I've been 'deadheading' them today.

Here's a closer shot of the building that marks my bus stop for my twice-a-week Pilates sessions.

This is a partial view of the man-made lake next to our apartment complex (it's to the right behind the trees). I got lots of nice pics today, lots of geese and duck and the first batch of ducklings I've seen this year--perhaps I'll post that tomorrow.

An out-of-focus-a-bit Koala, but hey, I was lucky to get one who was awake!

Lovely rose bhs - where in the world are you from?
Nice Koala Ren. I am enjoying seeing your Australia pictures. Thanks.

That bus must have been dropped from a good height!

Today I went to the shop to buy a pack of peel-off strips (about 50p per packet) and some black paper. Each time I go to that shop I look at the computer chairs with longing as mine was an office throw-out about twenty years ago. Today I gave into temptation. I had to unpack it outside and carry each piece into the house separately. My photo tomorrow will show whether all the bits were in the box and whether I managed to put it together!

It doesn't look much like a computer chair right now Sue

Here's a Prairie Crocus just popping out of the ground in my back flower bed.

I like statues when appropriately placed in the garden. Here's one of them - it weighs a 'ton', or at least seemed so when we were putting into position!
