Welcome to the August Photo-a-Day thread. The July thread will be left open for a while to allow for World time zones. It will close once it is August for everyone. Post in either thread (but not both) until then. Keep the good photos coming.

If anyone needs information on how to post photos, it can be found in the 'Photo posting guide' located at the top of the forum.

Congrats, Copago!

I met this rather nice cat on a stroll round the Old Town early this morning.

August already??!!! Wow, two weeks ago they were starting to advertise Back to school, now we noticed the stores are starting to display their fall clothing already. What next Halloween candy.

Here is the view from the front of our home. Just a typical suburban street.

I went to lunch with a friend to the Jersey Potteries, lovely gardens with water features. These fish were swimming about, I was a bit concerned to see a duck there too but hopefully these fish would be too large for it to catch and eat.

The food was excellent as usual, I have never had a bad meal there.

I've just got back from a few days sailing in the Solent. Here's a picture taken earlier today of my companion John, at the helm. We've just passed No Mans Land fort, which with several others was built in the mid 19th century to protect Portsmouth from possible attack. It's just come up for sale if anyone fancies a real getaway abode; see No_Mans_Land

Well done, Copago ! Looking forward to your next 10000 posts.

Ren, that locket looks wonderful inside and out. Your little girl is lucky to resemble you so well.

Aramis (can't get used to your new name ) - thanks for the No Mans land link, now I have something to keep me going to work and earning money

Here's a famous book in it's Romanian version. I think none of you (or extremely few) have ever seen one before .

This is a photo of a drawing my 17-year old daughter did which recently won her $100 and two ribbons in a local art show.

Thank you! That is the drawing that took "Best of Show" and the "People's Choice" awards...tomorrow I'll post, as my picture for the day, her drawing that won First Place (if there are no objections, of course).

[As well, this is kind of, sort of for on Denni's behalf. ]

Good to see you Denni!

Wonderful drawing Au_Naturel, and I'll look forward to seeing the one you post tomorrow.

I went over to my Mum's this afternoon for lunch, and we sat on her little patio for awhile. This is pretty much her view from there (and from her window), and is the garden in the centre of her apartment block. Note the windmill!

My Gnawra is not the brightest, but she has at last discovered that she can ask for icecubes through the window in the hot weather. She will crunch up the first one you give her, but the second she goes to hide in her bed 'for later' Duh!
I must forgive her being slightly dense. She is of unknown parenthood, I found her in the village bins at about 8 days old .

Gnawra being bottlefed , eyes not yet open
Gnaw again
a real tiddler!

Whilst I was at my friend's house yesterday she proudly showed me her magnolia, just the one blossom on the whole very large shrub.

The bike shelter at the train station was undergoing major renovations until about last week. In the mean time everyone had to put their bike somewhere else temporarily.
