spanishliz, Maggie looked like she was a beautiful Collie. I'm sure your sister and brother-in-law miss her terribly. Thanks for sharing. roos, great photos of the eclipse. I missed the whole thing.

This is the lighthouse in Key West, Florida, that supposedly helped Ernest Hemingway find his way home each night after a night of drinking. His house was nearby.

Jar,
Love the pic of the cat on your fabric stash. I'll have to get a shot of my dog sleeping with my stash.

Thanks ClaraSue, she was a real doll.

This morning at 3 a.m., Winston needed to go out in the yard. I couldn't resist taking a photo of the sky. (It was too early for the eclipse in this part of the world, and I didn't know about it anyway!)

Drove past the hospital today and it seemed like the clouds were trying to either mimic or augment the building's angles.

p.s. Going to be in there for a few days getting some parts rearranged, so will be without FT and a camera...

Another lighthouse. This one is on a hill at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.

Thanks for the great eclipse photo DSR. We couldn't see it here as there was too much cloud cover. I was so disappointed!

It was hard to get a still shot traveling at 60mph, but the building with the green on its edges is the Bank of America building, which, at 921', is the tallest building in Dallas. I've always wondered what the one with the X lights was.

Nice shot of the mountains Au_Naturel.

Thanks, Argus! Here's one more photo from atop Spruce Knob...this one clearly shows how aptly named the mountain is. This was taken from the trail below the observation tower.

Another image from the 'Military Odyssey' historical event, in which I participated last week-end.
These are 'Hoplites', Greek men-at-arms of around 500 B.C. The centaur on the shield is Chiron (pronounced kyron), and depicts healing.

Dave, I checked on line and find that building with the "X" in lights is the Renaissance Tower. I haven't a clue what it contains -- offices, offices, and more offices? It is 886', the second tallest building in Dallas.

And for today, a hydrangea in a neighboring garden.

Can I play even though I haven't yet posted any photos but my very first in the theme thread for the week? My digital camera is almost 10 years old and photo developing costs way too much, so I have a hard time coming up with a pic a day. BUT, last night we took our daughter to her first concert, and she was so cute, I wanted to share.

This is Kit singing along to "I Love Rock 'n' Roll". The concert was a free show at the state fair by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Kit is singing "Me, yeah me".

Thanks, Jar, for looking that up. I hadn't heard in the entire time I've lived here what that building was named.

Nice pic, Kapuskasing. Hope all goes well for you.

Liked the night shot of Dallas too, Dave.

The East Villa, just off the sea front, was one of the early buildings of St Leonards.

It's Fall Fair time, and the fairground is less than a five minute walk from my house. I don't think it starts until tomorrow, but they've been setting up all week, and some of the rides were in motion when I walked by just now. Here's one of them:

Great to see you here, Loth! What a cutie your daughter is

All the best, Kapuskasing, hope to see you back soon.

Not a great picture but took it while driving. The Dad emu and three chicks. Emus can be so very graceful when they're just standing there or slowly walking around but they lose any sense of grace when they start to run.

Tabby, I realise that both sides of that building would probably be owned by dfferent people/companies ... but why aren't they made to paint the whole thing instead of just one side?

This one's especially for Satguru - a Perth bus exiting the city bus station (I took it from the balcony of the convention centre next door to the bus station).

This is the "lens" from inside an old lighthouse. It was at Toro Point on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. It's beautiful and I would love to have it at my house, but the museum has it!

Sounds like I need to take a day and drive up US 75 to see that! I have been through Calera, as well as the other small towns through there (Atoka, Stringtown, Caddo, etc.)
