Is it okay to put a website address in my quiz, like in the Interesting Information, as long as knowing that website isn't necessary to get the question correct? For example, can I direct the quiz taker to a website to see a picture of what I'm talking about?

Also, for the quiz I'm writing, some quiz takers may end up thinking "How do you know that?" In this case, should I put the website down, to show where I got my information, even if that web page may be no longer there in, say, a year from now?

I do not allow web addresses in quizzes. The fact that they may not still be around when the quiz is played some time in the future is the main reason, but I also don't think that it's good form.
I allow references to a site by name, but definitely not a link or a web address.

I'm not big on websites in quizzes either - especially links.

The "How do you know that?" issue comes up a lot in Music quizzes (what song were they going to put in the album but changed at the last minutes, what is this song about, what was the name of this song before release, etc). Almost always, although you got your information from a website, there is some indication in the website of where THEY got it - "According to his autobiography, "My Life", blah blah......" Ultimately, your information is from the original source, it just got to you through the website. I would prefer that the original source be the one cited. If you don't feel that you can trust what the website says in that regard, you shouldn't be trusting it at all.

I really don't like them either as it is annoying to click and not get a link.

I've always put them in-most of my quizzes have all of the websites I used on the quiz in the last question.

The sites never change-I check.

I allow them in Animals and Sci-Tech, as much info in my categories requires citation. I'd rather a link to a website that may not exist than no citations at all.

Morrigan you can't say that they 'never' change. You don't know what will happen two years from now!

Skunkee-they don't change when I keep checking them! They'll add info, and if the website is defunct, I take it off.

Yes, but most players aren't that diligent. We don't trust that the player will check each and every one of their quizzes once a month.

And what if...I know it's hard to imagine...you lose interest in FT, stop visiting as often and don't continue to maintain your quizzes?

I'm not suggesting that you do that. As crisw has suggested, in some categories it's a good thing.
I was just pointing out a possible scenario for future consideration!

Ah! I meant, when I leave I'll take them off! Sorry, I should have made that clearer!

And some of my quizzes are cited by books...
