Here's an interesting theme idea, "Outer Space", and if anyone can post images like these at http://www.texasjim.com/NASApix/NASA%20pix.htm they deserve a special FT badge

My guess is, if they COULD post photos like that, they probably don't have the time to play on FT!

I mentioned some of these in the other thread, but repeat them here:

Animals other than pets
Hats/headgear
Windows (not the view through them, the windows themselves)
Automobiles
Education
Backs
Aeroplanes
Bottles
Flags

Ooh, I like backs and bottles liz (or even backs OF bottles)! Then there's

Exercise equipment
Toes
Egos (Imagine the photos one could come up with for this!)
The year 2000
Feelings
Covers, lids, anything that goes over something else.

Ahh, I have to stop!

Flags, Badges and Coats of Arms - as a single theme of course, not three separate themes.

I'd also suggested some possible themes in the other, ie 'Themes Addition', thread. These were:-
Special occasions
Holidays & travel
uniforms
History
Drinks
Clouds
ornaments
plants & flowers
brightly coloured objects
anything old (ie, over 100 years old)
birds and butterflies
bridges
aircraft - including views from planes
signs - road, warning, temporary, etc
furniture
cars, trucks and buses
people - but not family members
landscapes and seascapes
buildings
a view from your home window
phone booths and post boxes

It might be an idea to encourage suggestions which have already been suggested. That way the popularity of a subject might be seen?

I know we are only allowed 1 photo a day.

A catergory I thought about was opposites.Something big, something small.

Old, modern.Bright,dull.Good,bad.Happy sad.

Maybe post a photo of one and a link to the other.

Is that a possibility?

DD.

Interesting thought DD, but perhaps instead of linking we could try to get opposites in a single photo. That would be quite challenging.

To clarify, in the Themes thread, we can only have one photo a week (as well as a daily photo in the photo-a-day thread).

Some more possible themes:

Illustrate a book (or movie) title
Collections (mugs, coins, stamps, hats, whatever)
Feet
Music or musical instruments

How about 'photos taken at unusual angles'? Alternatively try to find some and post them in photo-a-day.
There are some good examples of these here

I know we all hate having to do it, but what about a theme on 'Work'.

Some of the themes used on other photo sites I've belonged to - color themes, doors, windows, flagabuse (the use of flags in everyday items), echolalia (repeated patterns), sculpture, art, found items, glass, vehicles, reflections, shoes, eyes.... oh dear, I can't stop!

Sorry if I've repeated any suggestions

What about before and after.

Any type of project about to be tackled.
Like house decorating, garden, or building work.

A photo before, and a link to the resultant work. Could take a while though.

I like the idea of using colours, emotional states and adjectives as themes as they give a chance for varied interpretations. First choices:

yellow
happiness
messy

Could we do a "Sculptures II" sometime? I was out of town for the week that my suggestion was used! I would love to share a photo for that subject - thanks in advance to the judges...

What I've been doing is going down the list of posts here and selecting subjects from members in turn. This seems the fairest way to handle things. We just got to the bottom of the posts and now are now starting from the the top again.

It would be a bit difficult to take into account people not being around when their suggestion comes up but I'm sure we can have a 'Sculptures II' at some time. Not quite the same I know but in the meantime, you could always put a 'sculpture' photo in 'Photo-a-Day' and say this is the one you would have posted. We still all get to see your photo that way.

Of course I don't expect an immediate return of an earlier theme, fair is fair and each idea should get a turn, I just had hoped there could be a sequel to any and all themes. Thanks!

While I don't participate in the photo forum, I do look at it every single day.

How about having time for a theme? There are so many possiblities...clocks in houses, clocks outside, etc., etc.

Just a suggestion.

Maybe photos of ...
-(public?) transportation
-food/kitchen shelves/pantries
-elevators
-recycling (aka new and brilliant uses for ordinary objects)
-locks/keys of any sort
-waves (ocean, sound, special-effects, things-that-look-like-waves)

That's my store of ideas for now.
Hopefully I'll start participating in the photo-a-day now that I have a real camera

I absolutely love looking at all the photos, and since my last suggestion was already used in the summer (which I somehow missed! Egads I am getting old!), I have been thinking of another theme that may interest everyone....how about photos of coffee/tea mugs filled with your favourite drink? Or it could even be just coffee/tea mugs/cups only?

I agree, and we should! My only thing is I only have one hunk in various uniforms....When do we begin?

Another idea (inspired by a remark by Jonnowales) would be (specifically named) city themes.

Why not suggest women in uniforms? After all, they didn't suggest the men in their undies.

Hunks (or chicks) in uniforms? Well maybe not. I'm not so sure it would make a good subject.

'Hunks' is most definitely a theme where I won't be posting

Maybe just "People in Uniforms", and if some hunks or babes appear, so be it.

Oooh! Fog/smog/mist might be cool.
Shelves and staircases might be interesting too.

Thinking "wet" would be a good subject.

Rain, puddles, taps, swimming pools, bodies of water, etc. Vinyl (wet look, haha) ... anyhow, that's one of a thousand in my head right now.

After seeing picqero's characterture photo in the photo a day section I thought that would be a good theme suggestion. Charactertures!

I would like to suggest as a theme forces of nature which was prompted by a pic in September thread of photo a day. As nature can be devestating weather it is wind rain or snow even water.

How about 'little and large'; could be one or the other, or a combination of the two.

Judging by recent photo-a-day images, 'Beaches' could be a good theme.
