I've been trying a free image editor called Gimp. It works very well. The program includes a good number of filters/effects. This one is called 'Bumpmap':

I haven't ventured here in a few weeks and the new ones are amazing! Thanks for the neat creations, all.

Love the pink sky tredici. Your colours and form at so interesting flopsy.

Puppies look so sweet and innocent ... like children, they don't like the word STOP or NO,their wee brains don't understand what it means.

Thank you sp Liz ... it is done mostly in PSP v.7 - they have nice filters for light effects.

A blue and yellow macaw, also called 'blue and gold'. Effect created by posterizing.

I have a new program called Kaleidoscope Kreator, so I've been playing with it. This is a picture of an azalea.

Tredici: yours looks like it was carved out of tinted paraffin..gorgeous!

Picqero: I'd swear those were SATIN roses instead!

I don't have any fancy "special effects" programs, so I chose a picture I took at the San Diego Zoo that ALREADY had pattern in it LOL! All I did was change hue/saturation/contrast in ACDSee photo editor.

I posted an image in the photo chain thread of a rock pool. It's not a particularly good image but sometimes I think effects can improve a mediocre image but ruin a good one; anyway I started fiddling with gradient masks. And now it looks like this:

I'm not sure it's an improvement but it was fun to do.

I had posted this photo of the Lone Cypress (Pebble Beach, CA) on the August thread, and then Flopsy snatched it and tweaked it. It looks so cool now -- kind of like an antique photo.
