I would imagine that for most of us, shadows are something we try to avoid in photographs. I hope this picture qualifies for this topic since the front of the church is in shadow. However, what I really like about this photo is the way the sunlight is captured shining down on the church. I wish I could say it was due to my photographic expertise, but it was purely dumb luck!

This is St Theresa's Catholic Church in Bodega, California. It featured briefly in Alfred Hitchock's classic movie, "The Birds".

Hope that this qualifies as the shadows cast over the Thames from this wonderful sunset over the QE bridge were magical, inspite of this being one of the most industrial parts of the Thames estuary. Glad we have now moved!

I took this image especially for the shadow -

I think it looks better doctored, so I have added a paint feature and it can be viewed in 'image art'.

I stumbled across this maple leaf in a shaft of light while walking in deep shady forest on cliffs overlooking the ocean, one autumn day in 2006. The location: Nanaimo, British Columbia, near Dover Road. I had just returned to Canada after three years in the USA - i think the fact that it was a maple leaf also drew my attention, besides the light play - i was photographing a lot of them at that time .

This one dates back nearly thirty years, when I used to know some of the guys in this band. I liked the way the spotlight cast their shadows on the wall behind them.

Picqero, your photo looks good enough to be a post card. Beautiful! Liz, now THOSE are shadows.

I wanted to call this 'Moon Shadows', but technically, I guess, this would be 'Earth Shadow'.

Just wanted to compliment you all on your shots. Waikiki is particularly impressive with those tall palm trees
