Topper led a pampered life at my house for 6 years. He even had a painting done of him! I adopted him from an elderly couple when they moved to a rest home. He is quite talkative, has better meows than most cats, and is also extremely noisy. His downfall was that he wouldn't stop biting me. He'd be friendly one minute and chomp on my arm the next. My arm couldn't take it any more, so a friend that already had a cockatoo adopted the scallywag. I still visit him.

Aww, he is such a cute scallywag though.
I love the painting.

Awesome Highland cows, yummy apples, and of course Topper the ornery cockatoo... Love the sunlit tree, satguru.

This kind of guy is what's been making me sneeze so much lately!

Sandy i would never laugh at you or anyone who has not seen a highland cow. They are somewhat affecionatley know as Hairy Cows BHS. Is not often you get to see them that close and sadly the people of Plockton wanted rid due to the pats they left. Apparently they have suffered a 25% drop in visitors since the cows are gone.

Yes, djsgal. Very gentle little sweetie who was disappointed no one came to the fence with treats!

Gary, Thank you for introducing me to your Hairy/Highland Cows! I think they are unique and I doubt I would ever have seen one if it hadn't been for you and this thread.

Love that shot, Tredici. Please tell me you did eventually give him a treat?

I could have entered this image for the current theme; the Royal coat-of-arms on a panel on Westminster Bridge - which I presume has been there since the bridge was built in 1750. Looking a bit scruffy, I think it's being restored; the panel that is, not the bridge

The horse was one in the corrals at a guest lodge. They got more than their share of treats!

Love the highland cattle, they bring back good memories of my trip to Scotland a few years ago. Topper is gorgeous, and I'm glad to hear the horse got a fair share of treats after all

Apologies for the fence in the foreground of this one, but I was taking this from across the road on full zoom. Horses exercising with sulky in tow were once a common sight at this track, which is just across the street from my local plaza, but will soon move to a new location closer to the outskirts of town. Have been wanting to get some photos before the move, so took the opportunity today.

Love Topper and his painting - the eye really pops out! We've got quite a few of his relatives around here - must try to get a snap of them.

Here is Ashie - he opened his eyes just as I took the photo. All his feet are together there.

Just thinking about the cocky - all the domestic ones I seem to see are the sulpher crested ones. Do you ever see the Major Mitchell (pink crested) ones anywhere as pets?

Saw these large, about 2cm diameter, during our canal boat holiday in central England a couple of weeks. They look good enough to eat, but didn't dare try them.
Does anyone know what they are?

Pretty tree, Tredici...

I don't know what they are picqero, but they almost look like persimmons.

The LA Museum of Art and the La Brea Tar Pits are right next door to each other in Beverly Hills. Here's the front lake display with a trapped mammoth and the art museum behind.

djsgal,
Don't you just love the LA County Museum? I've seen such wonderful exhibits there. As a quilter, I love the Docent Quilt you showed. They obviously made it to look like a hanging kimono. Years ago they had a kimono exhibit that was spectacular.

I found this little block totally by chance today only round the corner in Colindale, but off any main roads so no reason to see it normally. And if anyone knows Colindale it's nothing like anything else there.

Yes, I agree bhs, I've been so impressed with the museums around this area. The detail on that quilt was amazing!

Spotted this rather odd piece of machinery whilst out for a ride with my sister a little while ago.
