The snow has cleared up, so I guess this little guy can't stay in my yard

SO is the Pirate cake - has given me a thought for a cake I'll have to make this year . Looks simple(ish) enough that even I might be able to pull it off.

I'm glad it's inspired you Copago.

Nothing but snow outside. Here is a photo from a few years ago.

New mailbox that we put in this morning. That door to it is one from the old stove from the kitchen that was demolished last year.

Wow, you get a postie delivering to you? I assumed that you went in and collected your mail from the post office in town.

We pick ours up in town but the postie does deliver - I'm not sure why we don't get deliveries, it was set up that way before I got here so it's stuck that way. For us it's more of a marker so people know where to turn off to get to our place and for people to drop stuff off if they're passing.

Oh a the lizard a couple days ago - a couple asked how big he was, with the tail wihich is probably half of him he was about 2 foot long. Called a sand goanna and he was about as big as they get.

This is a starling camped out in a saguaro. Gila woodpeckers usually make the nests and then abandon them the following year, leaving them for other native species like Cactus Wrens or Purple Martins. Unfortunately, the intruder starlings have been very effective at pushing those species aside.

Great pics, love the lion, picqero.
Good job of recycling with the stove door, Copago.
PDAZ, that starling in the cactus is so neat!

I have to say, even though they're all beautiful, I am liking the warm weather pics a lot more than the cold ones right now.

I saw this vintage van recently, parked in Notting Hill. Wonder if anyone can identify its make?

Methinks it is a Citroen - circa Maigret>? Probably an old bread van.

Lovely pic, RMG!

This is white lantana, but for some reason, we always end up with a couple of purple blossoms.

I've been thinking of an idea lately, sort of like a treasure hunt. Someone posts a photo request and who ever can post that request then gets to request the next shot. ANd they'd be things that would have to be taken there and then, no going through your archives. So a newspaper with todays date, or a book open at page 395, a soft drink can upside down, picture of the computer at a specific website .. that sort of thing. Would it work?

ANyway, here's my offering for today - yesterdays' eggs ready to be collected.

There was one of those old Citroen vans over the road from me till recently and knowing them it was probably made well into the 60s as they kept their models for decades, something firms could learn from today.

Here is Finchley from the 4th floor

The tower on left used to be Christ's College school, the office block in the middle is the local tax department and the white shop on the corner is the Queens Head pub I've never been in as it wasn't one of the one's you'd want to.

Once upon a time this pink shack would have been someone's holiday bungalow, but now run down, neglected, and only used for storing junk
Must have been quite pretty in its heyday!

Just popping in to comment on Copago's treasure hunt idea. I like it! Might be worth a try, eh? Maybe someone could start a Treasure Hunt thread and just see how it goes?
