Hi all from the Great White North. It's snowing again. Here is my little tree in the front yard. It's starting to get weighed down with the white stuff.

Looks like I will be busy with the snow blower and shovel tomorrow.

That is a great idea to have the red pin attached to the fire plug. Should it get buried in the snow, the fire trucks can still tie into it should there be a chimney fire -- certainly hope that would not happen though!

I was wondering what that was! We don't need those in Phoenix

Here's my Rolf Harris moment: Do you know what it is yet? Look at the middle of the car. You can still see what lies underneath. It's a Nissan Micra, converted by Mitsuoka in Japan to look like a Jaguar S type at a cost of around £5000 on top of the list price. They do a whole range including many original designs but only available in Japan.

Yes it is a good idea. It's also there so the snow plows know where the hydrants are so they can clear the snow away from it after plowing the road.

By the way: that desk is pandemonium, the eggs are huuuuge, the snow is so nice (though it must be so inconvenient) and the car is fabulous!!!

Here's a bit more snow, this time out in the country near where my mother lives, on a lovely sunny winter day.

'Pomodoro's Evil Eye'

This "Sphere Within Sphere" is a fantastic sculpture located in the
'square' immediately behind Trinity College, (famous home of the
Book of Kells). Inept at judging sizes, i best remember it being
somewhere between 4-6 ft. in height.

Oh, Wow! Such wonderful photos I see! It's amazing how the pictures just keep getting better and better. From when this thread was first started last year until now the quality is just first rate! There are too many to comment on since I've last checked in and I haven't had much of an opportunity to get much picture taking done (more on that later ).

But I had to get this one in just because I thought it was so cute. Hubby had to take a trip to the hospital over the holidays (he's fine now, ) and this is one of the walls in the emergency room where he was treated.

Taking my cue from Nancy's deserted Argentine beach, here's a British one.
A late afternoon, which at this time of year is about 4.00pm, scene on Caernarfon Bay, Wales, with the Irish Sea lapping the shore.

When living in the desert, one sees a lot of saguaro cactus. But I have never seen a whole "forest" of them like this before.

The Saguaro

That looks so cool. I expect one of them to jump up and run away with Wile E Coyote in it. As a kid I assumed these cactus were cartoon creations ...

Happy birthday Shelley!

We don't have very many US style office blocks in the UK (besides the recently constructed Canary Wharf complex) so besides the much lower stature, here are a few at Elephant and Castle, the one in the middle is still being completed.

For those curious about the name they think it was the old coat of arms for the area. It has aristocratic significance, with the elephant being a sign of status with the less obscure symbol of the castle.

Continuing the 'cold theme' here's a little waterfall, about 75% frozen.

Very dramatic, Picqero.

A spider's web snapped at my Mum's a couple weeks ago. I sprayed the water on teh web myself 'cause I couldn't get it to show up on the camera. The spider may not have liked that but he liked it a lot less when I accidently walked through it an hour or so later.
