Welcome to the February photo thread. The January thread will be left open for a while to allow for World time zones. It will close it once it is February 1st for everyone. Post in either thread (but not both) until then.

If anyone needs information on how to post photos, it can be found in the 'Photo posting guide' located at the top of the forum.

I run trails in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve -- several thousand acres of desert park within metropolitan Phoenix. You can run from north Phoenix nearly down to Camelback Mountain without hitting traffic because there are tunnels under the roads, including the Piestewa Freeway. This is the first tunnel from north Phoenix, the 7th Street tunnel.

Happy February! I can't believe how time flies! I see we're off to a great month with a couple of good photos already.

Part of the golf course located in Arizona near my mother's house. The temperature and weather yesterday was just gorgeous and I thoroughly enjoyed my bike ride. See, we're not all desert.

edited to add: Holy Cow, PDAZ, we posted at the same time, so I wasn't really meaning to point out the desert photo. Jeez, what timing!

I've been to Phoenix several times, so these images brought memories. Once walked up Camelback mountain, but wouldn't fancy running it

This one of our most common local birds, a coot. They're feisty little birds, and the most devoted parents to their ugly little chicks, chasing off geese and swans which are far bigger than them.

I can't recall for sure, but did we have a thread for "Friends and Family"? I have a photo I'd like to post but I don't want to put it in the wrong thread. Thanks, Tracey

-Neat tractor, rmg.
-lady, That is just gorgeous, takes my breath away!
-PDAZ and ClaraSue, How funny is that? Looks like a great course, both the golf and the running. I don't know that I've heard of the tunnel concept before, but it's a great idea.
-picqero, That is one strange looking bird.

We aren't allowed to post any more pics of people. Here is the final thread about it and link, Tracey:

I did read that, and the photo I have doesn't have a single recognizable face in it at all, it's just a photo I thought might be nice to share that I was sent from Iraq. Therefore, it's a photo I didn't take personally, but thought others might like to see it.

What's the rule about that?

People shouldn't be the subjects of photos. When this isn't possible because buildings/places are never free of people, they should be kept in the background as much as possible (no discernible features). Photos shown or linked to should be taken by ourselves.

Here's another "snow" picture for those who enjoy them This was taken yesterday evening from my back door, after it had been snowing all day...

Quite a bit has melted today in the sun, but there's still plenty of the white stuff.

oh man! Look at that snow!

A brand new fence we've put up over the last few days. Really hot at the moment so only work outdoors in the morning which is why it's taken so long - it's only short so probably should ahve had it done in a day .

At this time of year every business has its little shrine cleaned up , painted and decorated. This one is by the road at the bus depot.

Just to show it's not just Canada that gets heavy snow, although ours is about once every 20 years. This was taken just now.

Some lovely photographs in the thread so far, especially your sunset lady1. The snow scenes are beautiful too, but it's so nice to see some sunshine.

The sun did come out here today, whilst it was snowing. It is beginning to look dull and grey again as nighttime approaches.

Snowdrops in the snow, lit by the sun.
