Yes, we have quite a bit of rock art, as it's called, here in north Phoenix.

This is the skeleton of a saguaro.

I wanted to check out an old saying yesterday. It was 45*c and yes, it was hot enough to cook an egg.

Bahaha, Peter Combe is great.

Edit: I just showed mum and she said you should have put it directly in the slippery dip - it would've cooked faster.

I guess this is another of those words/terms which belong in a n Aussie/Brit dictionary - we call them slides.

While we still have snow, I'll continue to post related images. Here's one of our most common little birds, the robin or erithacus rubecula, it's latin name
A cheerful little bird, resident throughout the year, and a common subject for Christmas cards.

Ah.. Picqero such a sweet little bird. And I also loved the roof display of our fine feathered friends.

This is one of the benefits to an early morning commute.

Great photos as usual, everybody!!! I love visiting this thread every day, just wish I got to post more often

It was a miserable day here today, wild winds, thunder and lightning, rain lashing down, then a vicious fall of sleet (in which I got caught ).

I decided to have a bit of a 'comfort meal' for tea

We anticipated Shrove Tuesday and made a bunch of pancakes. Topped with melty butter, a spoonful of sugar and a drizzle of lemon juice..... delish!

Wow, that's some coincidence- Peter Combe is not the sort of name you hear every day round here since he hasn't been on our TV a lot for about 20 years, and I just sent him an email before I came in here! Yet again the coincidence fairy waves her wand. I've told him to have a look now as I still can't believe it.

Thanks Tredici and Picqero, I was very careful last night and the main roads were fine by the time I went out.

Here are two of my favourite type of houses in a row of them in Northwood. Unfortunately one has been ruined but you can see what it would have been like from the one next door.

Hi everyone! I'm glad to be back. It took me a while to catch up on the last january photos and the new ones on this thread. As usual, a handful of amazing pics have welcomed me back.
The sea, the blue sky and the gulls have welcomed me over there, at the beach... i already miss the quietness of the place but i have your great shots and your kindness in exchange!

We used to play tapes of his on long car trips. I've pretty much grown up with a lot of his songs.

Copago - we used to have a slippery dip like that, but we all outgrew it many years ago. I'm not sure where it went but I think it might've been a garage sale.

At the outset of Chinese New Year, every year, true to form, my dear old Firecracker Vine bursts into flame. It makes a lovely show and gets photographed by passing tourists and day trippers.

Ren, I'm afraid if I was one of those passing by my camera would find itself busy, too.

Another winter sunset.

What fantastic colours in your photograph Tredici, great sharp black silhouettes too. The colours in Ren's made me smile. We need colour. It is great viewing everyone's photographs.

This is Cawfields Quarry on Hadrian's Wall, in Northumberland. (near my home) A former quarry which cut through the wall and the underlying Whin Sill. Imagine them allowing that to happen nowadays, not quite so gung ho with our heritage these days thankfully. Though if they hadn't done it then, we wouldn't be left with this lovely feature of the landscape now.

Ren, I love your flowers and plants, they always look beautiful. and tredici's sunset is breathtaking!
Here are some bars, shops and restaurants in the woods in the center of Mar de las Pampas, a beach village near the other village I spent my holidays at. It's a relaxing, lovely place to have breakfast or a meal... or just a walk around.

The shiny paper doesn't help , but it shows how every shop gets in on the CNY act! The round box in the front is very trad, all homes have them, filled with sweets for guests.

BTW it seems that Photobuck have brought back the"copied" facility.

Just milking this a bit more It's been two weeks and four days of over 42*c temps. Today officially it was 45.4 but our gauge showed 48* at one stage. Sick of it and at the drop of a hat I would go and visit SatGure, Piqero, Liz, Professor, Tellies, Blithe, Running Bare, Jane and anyone else who has got snow. Sorry pics have been boring altely - just haven't been getting out much.

No Copago not always. In most towns people discuss the weather, in Cape Town the main topic of discussion is the clouds, or lack of clouds over the mountain.

Same location, different day. Both pictures were taken from my neices from porch.

Very different to the blackbirds we see here mc shellsie, he has a much more pointy looking beak and quite a pronounced bluey tinge. I love watching the birds, but am not quick enough with the camera, and never have a long enough lens on to get real close ups.

The sun came out today again and has melted most of the snow, though it's still just above freezing. The crocus are beginning to bloom.

Copago I don't know how you cope with heat like that. I guess it's what you're used to. I wouldn't be going out much either.

Here is a photo of some poinsettia plants we saw on a tour of a plantation in Hawaii.
