That's a beautiful flower, Martin. It would make a great card.

Passing a small town while on the landing approach. If you look closely you can see a thin vapor trail off the end of the flaps.

I suppose I could have posted this in the "trees" thread. I'm sure there are some bare trees down there.

I posted my feeble-looking bonsai in the 'trees' theme thread, but have since re-potted it. (taking the time to look at it critically while photographing it for the theme thread, made me realise just how badly it needed lots of TLC ) It's the first time I've repotted a bonsai, so fingers crossed I haven't killed or permanently damaged my tree. Now to find out what I can do to bring the leaves back to their proper 'small' size ...

Here's a pic of the tree 'after' my tender ministrations:

Thanks s-m-w, I remember the Bedford lorries from my childhood but didn't realise they'd been around that long, nearly a decade before I was born in that case.
Jill-geo, I've never seen a green sky or northern lights but that couldn't be anything else, quite incredible. I was out once and all the park and trees I was in turned green/yellow as the sun went down but don't think the sky was. I took a few photos and they looked exactly as the real scene did.

They announced a train was coming as soon as I arrived at Witley station in Surrey so I was well prepared with the camera today.

This one did get used in a card. Not for the outside but the inside. The photo was faded until there was only a hint of the content left. It was then resized and used as a background on a card insert.

Thanks, Tredici. If it's not my camera then it's the computer on the blink.

We were at the beach all weekend and I took soooo many photos, both color and black/white.

Love that black and white one ClaraSue! Like the colourful chaps as well.

I found a convenience store down by the harbour yesterday. Not only does the owner sell the usual variety store fare, but hot coffee as well. He also keeps track of the depth of the ice on the harbour for skating (yesterday it was three feet) and keeps a fire burning in this wood stove so skaters can come inside and warm up!

Early morning at the harbour. All the boats were on the other side.

That's beautiful, Bhs and zorba!
With the reports of snow in America hitting our TV here will we see more snow shots?

I am just amazed at what is in here already! Fantastic sunsets, gorgeous old structures, bears, lemurs and an emu, a view from the air and pounding surf, and to top it off, kangaroo tracks - with much more mixed in. Wow and thank you all. I cannot wait until it is warm enough to get this broken body back outside and attempt some photos.

Can't beat kangaroo tracks, but here are some bird tracks in the snow, seen a few weeks ago in my garden.

Certainly must have been, an amazing image for your area; did it make the local news? I lived in the north of England for years, and never saw the aurora from there.
I thought maybe there must be high solar activity, and came across this website while searching. Can't pretend to understand it, but it's pretty impressive
Also there are some good aurora images here

Oh my goodness. Just the idea of the birds trekking around in the snow makes me smile. The picture is great.

I was just on a road and transport survey in Tottenham today so rather than the scenic areas this is just a typical modern London bus (they only kept two routes of the old type since 2005) leaving the stand behind it.

Neat bird prints, picqero, and I love that engine, zorba!

David, Is that actually a photo of a younger version of your Queen on that bus? I don't mean to sound ignorant as I have no idea if that would even be allowed, but it strikes me as 'strange'.

Wildflowers have started to bloom around Phoenix. These are the wild daisies that come up in my yard every spring. Hopefully the poppies will be up next.

That's an advertisement promoting a new film called "Queen Victoria", starring Emily Blunt, which is being premiered in the UK this month. You're right to assume it that using a picture of the current Queen in commercial advertising would not be permitted.

May I offer my first contribution to this board? It was taken in France some months ago, in an area famous for its duck (on the menu) and hunting (before it gets on the menu). It was taken very early in the morning so those are the colours created by the mist.

Great photos, everyone! Flopsy, your first contribution is a certain winner in my book, . I look forward to your next.

We rented a boat during the weekend and went out on the Pacific Ocean. We got close enough to this buoy to check out the seals. They sure did stink, though.

Very serene Flopsymopsy and welcome!

PDaz to see color like that again is awesome. Spring can't come here fast enough. I'm a little tired of bare branches photo ops.
