With St Patrick's Day jsut a couple days away I though we could have the theme for this week as Green/Ireland.

Think harps, shamrocks, Guinness, green, leprechauns, celtic crosses and whatever reminds you of Ireland.

Perfect opportunity
This little fella came home to me from the Emerald Isle about ten years ago. I've probably shown him before

I couldn't not post in this thread, could I?

What to post, however......

I was going to go for my hometown of Dublin, but decided to show off a photo which I particularly like. Taken in the Wicklow Mountains somewhere near Glendalough, in December 2001, on a bitter cold, frosty day, I always feel it captures that 'mystical' element so often associated with Ireland.

For many years the Toucan was the advertising mascot of Guinness.
Our local zoo Paradise Wildlife Park has quite a collection of these remarkable birds

This is my very first photo to these forums. I hope it works.

This is an Irish pub - with its appropriate green sign - in New York City's East Village. One of the oldest, continuously operated pubs in the country. They even make their own beer and are very busy this week.

Thanks ren33 for the welcome! I can't believe it worked, but those were very clear instructions in that thread so I couldn't mess it up too bad. I really love everybody's photos - it's so neat to see things and places from all over the world.

Great photos everyone - as usual it's a nice variety.

I think I have the brother to yours, Jane! He got dragged out this week for St Pat's activities for school!
