What gorgeous kitties, SOTHC! What pretty ruffs! Not to start a theme or anything, but here's Jadzia - one of my 3 - sitting somewhere she's not supposed to be:

She knows better, too

Good Star Trek name there Y. One of my favourite characters as well.

This is the park near me my auntie and uncle took their dogs from 1967 on and it hasn't changed at all. Sadly only my auntie has survived since then but she still lives in the same house there.

Many of London's traditional Black Cabs aren't black at all, but I thought this one was particularly colourful
I only had time for a quick snap, so to comply with the 'no people' rule, have erased the features of a couple of background people.

Thanks, Satguru. As a kitten, she was such a smart, independent little thing, the name choice was obvious. She's still that way.

I love all the pictures of the kitties! And of course! Jadzia, like the character on Deep Space Nine, right? I agree with Satguru, that's a very good name.

Can I post a picture of my kitty?

Here is Kiarita, in the balcony:

Yes, minkpenny, she was named after Jadzia Dax on DS9 - one of my favorite characters. I also thought it was a pretty name and will allow her to 'hold her tail high' (if I may completely wreck a T.S. Eliot quote).

Kiarita looks like she's in kitty heaven - all those trees and things to look at! I also love the kitty pics.

So many nice photos of late. Love the rainbow, bhs!

I am very excited to have seen and snapped this photo this morning. Out for a walk in the Desert Woodland park near my home, I saw an adult coyote keeping a close eye on me. She started making small barking/growling sounds, and looking around I noticed why: a couple of coyote pups were sunning in the bushes.

This is Mama watching me closely!
Momcoyote

I walked away to give her some space and peace of mind, and she followed me a good distance to make sure I was really leaving!

What a special moment, djsgal! Adorable pup

This is pink oleander. The plant grows really well in Phoenix -- needs little water once established. The pink varieties have a slightly spicy scent that's really pretty

How lucky you were to get so close to a coyote cub and its mother djsgal, and even better to have got such great photos. I love the oleander too, and have even managed to grow one in the garden - no mean feat for England, though mine will be a couple of months before it flowers.

I posted one of my garden statues in the weekly theme, and this is the other one. I'll be pressure washing it soon, and it will become almost white again!
The pink blooms in front of it are rhododendrum.

Some years ago, I had a thing for collecting porcelian dolls. Here are two, all wrapped up, before being donated to a local charity event.

Interesting question, Copago, because that exact thought crossed my mind as I was being followed by the mother! Actually they're pretty shy around people. When I turned and "confronted" her, she jumped quickly into the bushes to hide. But recently I've heard about coyotes going after little children. See article below.

I actually felt very jealous when officer Dax married Worf, yes, I know it's only a TV programme... Picqero, that looks like Regent Street turning into Conduit Street. Once you've driven a van around London you forget very little, even after 25 years.

You can't go wrong with taking cats, this is Spike who lives opposite, and probably the main reason he avoids me is as Lucy used to chase him and Kitty next door out of the garden. They don't forgive much.

The coyote pic is very cool! When I lived in California my ex used to go running in the hills with our German Shepherd. There was a lone coyote that used to join in the run. This happened numerous times. He/she was never aggressive.

We should be careful about branding coyotes 'dangerous', because of a few reports about them attacking children or family pets, especially dogs. Coyotes are dogs too, and dogs routinely fight each other just to establish dominance, so this behavior is perfectly normal. As for attacking children, in the UK every year children are killed by 'pet' dogs, and many people are attacked by them, so let's not be too hard on the coyote
Also remember that rats, mice and carrion feature prominently in a coyote's diet, so it's a matter of what you prefer to have around your area!

Great photos everyone! I don't think I'd have stuck around to get such good coyote photos.

Here's yet another sign of Spring - yard work!

Coyotes, kitties, dolls, and colorful scenes... great pictures everyone!

Liz, your photo looks like you were in my yard this evening... I filled two bags like yours, and was using a blue rake!
