Great job Stu. Why doesn't Nightmare have one there? His quizzes are always great.

Wow very impressive Stu. Also great job to Cellardoor with 5.

Would any of you super authors be willing to reveal your excellent and good percentages?

I don't think we get those kinds of statistics. This isn't too far off, though.

"I don't think we get those kinds of statistics. This isn't too far off, though."

In the "My Quizzes" section on "Me" it gives you your percentages for all quizzes you've made. Unless this changes when quizzes become archived?

Oh, you're talking about for individual quizzes! Gotcha.

For Dracula:

Ratings: 39
Good & Excellents: 38 (97%)
Exc: 20 (51%), Good: 18 (46%)

What strikes me is that all of these 25 quizzes have highly specialized topics. Naively, I would have thought that quizzes with a broader audience fare better than those that require intimate knowledge of a very narrow field, but these authors prove otherwise. (Of course that means I could play a whole 2 of these without making it a pure guessing game or a "google and paste" orgy...)

Quizzes that are about specialised topics generally take longer to get a ranking, as they don't get as many plays as the quizzes on more popular topics. But once they get that rating...

I often find that a really well written quiz (like the ones I've played from this list) are worded so that it becomes an "educated guess" and I get more than I thought I would have at first glance. Or the wrong options are so good I don't mind The wrong answer options are just as important as the right answer when it comes to getting it "just so" with a question.

Very true--and more specialized quizzes are, by and large, only taken by people with a real love for the subject. What has historically been my highest-rated quiz has been taken almost exclusively by, I imagine, the patriotic Australians for whom I wrote it--it got most of its plays on ANZAC Day two years ago. Their ties to the subject matter is probably as responsible for its rating as anything else.

I would certainly agree that the more specialised quizzes are generally played by members with a good knowledge of the subject and/or a love of the subject, and a desire to learn more.
Given that scenario, it's to be expected that they will be highly rated. My own top rated quiz, is indeed a very specialised topic, and I personally do not feel that it's my 'best' quiz - which only goes to prove that ratings are highly subjective.

The list has changed slightly. My Inspector Morse quiz has re-entered the top 25 at position 23 after today's rankings. For the last few weeks it's been sitting at 26. It's rated as average difficulty and hasn't been played since June 21st. I wouldn't call it a specialised quiz as the show has been seen in many countries.

Unless you know all the in's and out's of the site, it doesn't prove anything. The only thing subjective are opinions.

Well said Nightmare. We as quiz takers (or makers) should realize that we don't get to choose how people rate a quiz.

lol. I would like to see AnneBonney's The Red Green Show quiz make it that far up! She is usually in the top 50 with that one. ;-) Good quiz.

RomeoMikeGolf, I would most definitely call that a specialized topic. It could be broadcast all over the world, but only people who watch the show will play it, right? I have never even heard of it, so even if it is shown here, I wouldn't know any answers. :-)
