School goes back for my son tomrrow after the term break so that is the inspiration of this week's theme. Books, pencils, uniforms, school buildings or something from an adult point of view.

This is the high school where my daughter went to school. It is a private girls' school. I've always loved the beautiful grounds and Spanish style architecture. It has an interesting history. It was built in 1913 as a private school. In 1919, at the end of World World I, it was used as a convalescent hospital for returned soldiers. In 1929 it was sold to the Sisters of Mercy and converted back to a school. The girls' locker room was the hospital mortuary and the students swear it is haunted! It is now heritage-listed.

August 1958. My dog Missie catches the eye of a passing cheerleader at Redwood High School, Larkspur, California. Color slide taken by my brother. I was there (age 12), but apparently didn't have my own camera with me. This was the year the school opened. I eventually became part of the Class of 1964. Among the later well-known alumnae, Robin Williams.

What a colourful shot of Conor's school, ren. I love that mural! MotherGoose, I also like your lovely shot of your daughter's school. Beautifuly architecture. Obviously Australia has some visually pleasing schools!

Well it isnt actually Conor's school. He is on School of the Air at home, as he is rather far from a traditional school. That was the place where the programmes are created and sent from. We had a really interesting tour.

Ren, I realised after of course Conor is homeschooled! (I confuse easily at times, lol) I went to the School of the Air site and had a virtual tour. I like the signature wall too, with the students' plaques embedded in it.

To atone for my bone-headed, yet inadvertent violation of the rules in posting that 1958 Redwood High School photo my brother took, here's one I took myself in 1962, when I was in my sophomore year there. Note the collection of cool 1960s cars in the parking lot. There must have been some event going on to explain what everybody was doing there at that time of the evening.

I love old cars - great shot.
Interesting how much the trees have grown and the addition of the aerial on the roof.

But guess what, Paul? You're only allowed one a week in the theme threads. LOL (although I have had themes that have gone a bit longer if I'm away or something like that)

Well, this was the only education-related picture I could get...a flyer for a university in my area.

Albert College, a university preparatory high school, not far from my house. There's also a junior school, but the building is much newer and not as interesting.
