And I've been a fan since '96...when I moved to Dallas!

Also, Tampa's team has been the Rays since 2008...when they won the AL pennant. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tampa_Bay_Rays)

Fred, you live in NY...I guess I figured you'd be a Yanks fan, but it looks like quite the opposite! I'm quite happy there are NY residents who don't like them. smile

I never called you a bandwagon jumper, and I will not call them the Rays because a few people got offended by the devil in their name. I still call the Nationals the Expos too.

Gonna have to change the bottom line now...they beat the Yanks!

Go Rangers!

A Lee and Lincecum World Series would be a nice thing to see.
But then again, a Lee vs Halladay is just as nice
Go Rangers! but first
Go Giants!

Well done (and VERY well played) to the Rangers in beating my beloved Yankees. The better team definitely won the ALCS.

Enjoy the World Series ... There's nothing like the first time smile

This is a great World Series for me, I love underdogs, so far more interesting then a yanks v phillies match-up

I love the results. Being a poor Mets fan. I like that both the Yankees and the Phillies got taken out. This should be an interesting and fun World Series. It's good to see new teams in there. Screw the networks. This should be fun.

Who would you consider to be the biggest underdog in this series?

Well, both WS teams have surprised, but the Giants are more. The Rangers have been building up for years, and you could sense something was coming, all though not as fast as it has. Buster Posey, Cody Ross, and Freddy Sanchez have been surprises, as well as the rotation behind Tim Lincecum. I don`t think the Giants can beat the Rangers, but it will be intresting.

Another surprise could be the AL and NL East. In March, all the way to September, World Series predictions were Yankees vs Phillies, Rays vs Phillies, the Braves or the Red Sox were contenders. All of them went in the DS or the CS, or in the Red Sox case, missed the postseason entirly.

The San Diego Padres were surprises. No one imagined them missing the playoffs on the last day. Other than Adrian Gonzalez, the team is a bunch of nobodies. Playing on the West Coast doesn`t help.

By the way, Rangers in 7.

One thing I find pretty interesting is that Molina (catcher for the Rangers) played for the Giants up until a July 1st trade. An article I read said that even if the Giants win the series, they would present Molina with a championship ring for being a contributor earlier in the season. So either way, Molina would get a ring (assuming he didn't refuse it).

The Giants are the underdog according to Vegas, and I would agree. I say Rangers in 6. In any case it should be a fun series to watch, and I'm with fredsixties, screw the networks. I'm sure FOX is pretty upset the Red Sox, Phillies or Yanks aren't in the series...which makes me even happier. haha

Um, Sanchez is no surprise. He's been an all-star quality hitter for years now.

Wow. San Fran up 11-4. I'm assuming Cliff Lee started, in which case this scoreline is a real surprise

The Giants are up 2-0, after their home matches. have looked rather good, and not helped by some dodgy texas pitching. Anyone think Texas can come back from this? Except for dg_dave? smile

The majority of Texas fans have gone quiet, as expected. There are a few here and there, but they are not talking so big and tough anymore.

I'm still rooting for them, but am not in the happiest of moods.

We still beat the Yankees! (and that you cannot take away, ALV)

No, I cant. Well done on dethroning the mighty Yanks. But, that isn't the end of the rainbow.

Mitch Moreland's 3 run "Jimmy Jack" helped.

"Jimmy Jack" is a term by Eric Nadel, the voice of the Rangers.

Well, Giants 4-0, thanks to a great perfomacne by Madison Bumgarner. 3-1 may be a bit much to come back from now

Yep, one heck of a game by Bumgarner. One more in Texas, but even if the Rangers win and taking into consideration the good job they've done on the road this post-season; 3 in a row might be a bit much to ask. Hopefully they still make a series out of it though.

Two months ago I would have been happy if the Rangers could even win the first play-off series. They have accomplished so many "firsts." Never before have they won one, and here they have won two series! Even if they don't win the World Series, they are "winners" in my book. Maybe they will yet get their act in gear and win a couple or three more games -- they are always full of surprises. Last night The Ballpark In Arlington accommodated their largest full house ever. (As for the Cowboys -- Yeck!) GO RANGERS!

Why do they play the game? To win championships. Not to almost win championships. There is no reason to sugarcoat it. Only one team can win. The rest are losers.

Well done to the San Francisco Giants...outpitched, outhit, and outran the Rangers. And to think: they earned their playoff spot on the last day of the season!

Congrats to the Giants...well played.

This came from a Yahoo Sports article:

Quote:
The Yankees are used to flexing their financial muscle to land free agents of their choosing. Baseball’s top four salaries this year belong to players in pinstripes: Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Derek Jeter, and Mark Teixeira, whose combined $100.5 million exceeded the entire payrolls of all but eight major league teams.

This says that 22 of 30 teams spent less for their team than the Yankees did for only four players! I'm sad to see Lee go, but if he is happy playing in Philly, it wasn't my decision where he plays in 2011.
