Please all take time to re read the rules here: The Rules , especially with regard to size of photos posted
It is very important that you abide by these rules or your picture may be removed. We are not permitted to exceed bandwith.
Please re read these rules and make it your New Years Resolution to check before posting. Thanks. Happy New Year to All. Sara

How does one determine the bandwith of a photo?

Right click on the picture and on" properties" .It tells you the size there.

Just to be "nerdy" lol .....

exceeding the bandwidth means going over the alloted amount of "webspace" (that has been paid for) during a specific time period. Think of it like a swimming pool - there are only so many people you can fit in it at one time before it is "too full" at that moment in time.

The actual SIZE of your photo doesn't really equate DIRECTLY with bandwidth, but certainly does have influence on how much webspace is used up (at any one time).

So, the "ideal" parameters given in the "rules" (to avoid swimming pool overload) have been equitably (in my opinion) determined to be no larger than 480 x 640 PIXELS (either in landscape or portrait mode). There is no reason to have mega-pixel quality in a photo in that size (mega-pixels are only needed when you do "poster" size prints for your own use), so when you save your photo as a JPG (which in itself, compresses any file) within the size requirements, you "should" end up with a pic that hopefully does NOT exceed 200K.

Furthermore, pictures larger than 640 in either direction do NOT fit in entirety on one screen, which would cause unnecessary scrolling in order to see the whole thing and also "pushes" all the text AND pics etc to the far right (meaning you have to scroll TO the right, not just "down" to see everything) which is generally QUITE annoying. When people post things like that (by accident or whatever), the scrolling thang doesn't go away until a new page is started.

You can post pictures significantly smaller than 200K and honestly? - they will still show up really nice/clear HERE, due to the max size (as in pixels) requirement.

And yes, ren's advice on file SIZE is quite correct. Right click properties and it will tell you exactly how "big" it is : ) If you find it's too big, then either edit it on your hard drive, resave and re-upload, or use photobucket (or other service) to make it comply, resave and then repost the link.

Now that I've (no doubt) made it all clear as mud, I return you to your normal viewing channel lol.
