Happy New Year to you all!

No fireworks from me unfortunately, but I have got this fabulously carved and sculpted tree trunk to show:

It's lying near the playground in Citadel Park in Lille (France), and my older two kids spent many an afternoon climbing around on it with gangs of other kids.

Hope everyone had a great New Year and a happy 2011 to all! It was my birthday on the 31st and I had a good day smile Hopefully this terrible weather clears up properly soon, though it makes very good photos!

This one was taken in Glasgow and shows the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery in the background on the left.

This was my bromeliad collection as it looked a year ago. The plants are still healthy, but sadly, most of them have not re-flowered.

Beautiful, everyone! Nothing artistic from me, just a photo taken out my back door about twelve hours into the New Year. Rained all day and most of the snow is gone, but I just know it will be back!

Starting from the 1st, I've begun a 365 photo project for the year, so my uploads will be my photo from each day. smile I will have to get inventive, especially on the days I'm sitting in the house all day!

These are on top of some cupboards in my home in Perth.

Here's another of Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow, Scotland. I actually took this in September. The museum is fabulous, free of charge, and only about 10-15 mins' walk from my university. laugh If anyone's in Glasgow at any point, the museum's definitely worth a visit!

Maybe it's a bit late for Christmas tree posts, but here's mine all the same.

I could've gotten more of the star at the top and less of the fan at the bottom, but I had the camera on the museum setting, so had to hold it extremely still. After several attempts to hold it still, this is the result.

Tried to catch an elusive bee on the convolvulus. She was way too fast for me. but obviously. something else has been taking tiny snacks fron the flowers.

After raining all day New Year's Day, there was a little light snow yesterday morning, but by the time I went for a walk the sun had come out, and a bit of blue sky was showing.

One from the archives, this is an old advertising ghostsign on a wall in Clapham Common. They were popular before the war and then replaced by hoardings, although many related to the business in that place rather than general advertising. Many still remain in faded form, hence the ghost label, while every so often another is revealed for a short time when a building next to it is demolished to show the previously covered side.

It was snowing when I woke up this morning, and this was the scene when I was walking by the river this afternoon.

Precious insisted that I take all the presents out of this Christmas bag so she could get in it to play.

This is a detail from a piece of street art in Newport, which was once the home of Victoria's Railway Workshops. It's now a suburb of citizens from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
The artwork was done by professional artists and local schoolchildren.

My poor dog, Lucky, had to go to the vet for an eye operation to remove a tumour from his left eye. He has to wear a collar and is not happy about it at all. The funny thing is, when they shaved the area around the eye, the skin underneath his white fur is mostly black.

"Aww, I hope Lucky gets better soon!" Thanks Reeshy.

You know, every time you say "in my hometown of Perth" in one of your posts, it always gives me a jolt, and then I realise it's Perth, Scotland, not my hometown of Perth in Western Australia! smilee

I've already posted today but I'll post a photo of our Museum or Art Gallery for comparison in the near future.
