I've never seen anything quite like it, it's beautiful! And a great shot.

The ceiling art of the rotunda of the Capitol Building in Washington DC. The artwork is 'The apotheosis of Washington' painted by Italian artist Constantino Brumidi in 1865. The Capitol Building is a great place to visit even for non-US citizens. (The whole family loved Washington as tourists)

Hi Alexxandra, very nice photo! I had a lot of trouble taking the photo above while looking straight up - somehow it seemed to affect my balance just enough to cause a camera tremor. I ended up sitting on the floor which I'm sure looked very strange. Is it just me or did you have this issue too? Obviously a tripod would solve this, but I rarely take one with me when in tourist mode, and certainly touring the Capitol Building, I wasn't going to take anything that could be taken out of context by the security people :-)

Mike, I don't remember any particular difficulty; I was mostly just snapping everywhere I could before I was swamped by the crowds! No, I did stop and be careful about it, but not too much.

Weird, the "chain" used to be one of our more busy threads. Don't let the absolute magnificence of the recent photos scare you away LOL. You can take any "thing" or any colour in the previous pic and run with it. I'm going for a "ceiling" of a different sort here. It's the stage decoration for the Cirque du Soleil production of "La Reve" at the Wynn in Las Vegas.

(photo taken on a cellphone, since they didn't allow "real" cameras lol)

Lovely colors, Jakeroo!
Here's a colorful silk scarf, painted for my wife by an artist in Seattle:

Here's a picture I painted a while ago...not up to the standard of the artist who did the scarf.

Very nice Ertrum. I watched a lady paint one of those "banners" (orchids were the subject) - an interesting process as she used dyes/alcohol/water/rock salts as opposed to silk paints/water.

Dot: once I got out my magnifying glass (lol) I discovered that your painting is very lovely indeed. Good heavens, don't be shy! Nice to see you posting : )

Playing off the last entry in the chain itself, here's some more motorcycle art, but of a patriotic nature this time smile

Thanks for the nice comments on my artwork! blush

Here's my hometown with the bunting out for the olympic torch relay. There was only one recognisable person and I've managed to 'lose' her completely in balloons!

oh dear. Are they in NC temp water? You need to come on a fishing trip to the northern West Coast with us. There are 10 of us going in August, you and the wife would be more than welcome (don't bring food, we always have tooo much). I'd post a pic of my Chinook that qualified as a "Tyee" but I can't do that til someone fixes my puterthatdied.

Jakeroo, those were in Alaska. I think that if they'd been in NC waters, they'd be parboiled before we caught them.
