How often does this happen?

I have a screenshot of the FT home page showing latest quizzes,
as at 2011/03/09, 1:33 PM CST, showing the following quizzes placed online:
"NCIS" (greysfan2012) 12 minutes prior
The Ultimate "NCIS" Quiz (PunkFairy) 24 minutes prior
"NCIS" Quiz (turlegirl11) 33 minutes prior
"NCIS"- Which Episode? (Roux739) 46 minutes prior
NCIS (tribefan716) 49 minutes prior
My "NCIS" Quiz (Taylizzy) 52 minutes prior

Isn't this odd?

Not when you're trying to feed a baby and need something to do so you start going through abandoned quizzes to find ones that can go online wink

I'm watching an NCIS marathon so I got a little inspired to see what hadn't been put online but could be!

lol, that's what I thought you were doing, LadyMacB. I bet there are tons of abandoned quizzes; but I thought quite a few of them were deleted after a few months? How can you find whole quizzes written and ready?

Makes me wish I watch the show. That's a ton of points waited to be had.

I know, me too, Anton. I have been playing all these quizzes, because I play ALL the new quizzes that come online, but I wish I could get more than 2-5 right. It would be mega points to have seen the show.

LadyMacB, do you mind doing this for a show I actually watch? wink lol.

Many of them were written, submitted, then rejected or just written and never submitted. A few were missing interesting info so I just added a quick sentence to get the quiz online.

Some also were previously online but were taken offline due to errors. I ended up correcting the errors and putting them back online.

For all the quizzes, the authors are no longer on the site, so it was either someone fix them or delete them...

Yeah, that makes sense. That's cool of you to do all that, LadyMacB. I bet it's a lot of work, and I bet you've just scratched the surface of all the quizzes like that. smile

It all fits together now. I thought I'd missed a challenge or it was some kind of marathon quiz writing session. Anyone who watches NCIS will be enjoying them, but that doesn't include me. I think it appears over here but I've never caught up with it.

Thank you, Ladymacb29! I was wondering which editor I had to thank for such a bumperload of quizzes on my favourite show. As none of the authors are still on site, I guess I can say that I loathe the quiz with "Which episode"....I may love the show so much that I memorise the dialogue (sad or what?) but who looks at the episode titles? I realise that I am probably in the minority here..'Friends' quizzes seem to suffer from the same syndrome...

Thanks Lady, you inspired me to look at my own category's abandoned list again - two six seven of the 13 resurrected and maybe I can find one or two more smile

(They are true resurrects of previously online quizzes, so no showing as "new", however)

I sense a trend in editors now......

Not a huge fan of NCIS. If I was, I'd have lots of points all mine today!

Forgive me for being a little dense, but the part about the quizzes being written and never submitted puzzles me.
I didn't know that editors have access to quizzes that that authors have not put online yet, or i am i just understanding
that part wrong?

Editors can see every template that has ever been created in the categories for which they edit. While the quiz author is active on the site, the quiz is in their control. But when a quiz author disappears (defined as not being online for over six months), editors can then take over the job of completing the quiz to get it online. More often, the abandoned quizzes I check out were abandoned for good reasons.

This does not apply to quizzes that have been deleted. Deletion is final and there are no back-up copies of deleted quizzes.

Careless - I should have said every template that has ever been created and hasn't been deleted.

Might I ask if there is any problem publishing something under a person's name that they never went that last step to be published? I know copying has the term plagarism applied to it. Is there a legal term for undesired, unauthorized publication?

I don't know about a template which has never been submitted. However, on submission one of the messages you see transfers control of the quiz's contents to the site and its representatives (although a number of authors don't seem to be aware of it, it's in pretty large writing). This means that a quiz which has been submitted and rejected would be fair game for an editor with the time and patience required to get it online.

Mehaul - most of these quizzes were submitted and rejected by the editors and just never resubmitted. Occasionally, people don't understand you need to resubmit the quiz when done and other times, the author doesn't feel like sticking with the quiz and making the changes.

Also, as looney tunes said, all the quizzes are the property of the site.

I'd just like to say that it was very nice of Ladymacb to go to the trouble of salvaging those that had any possibility of being put online. It would have been SO much easier (and with good reason) to just delete them and clear the board. Editors continue to amaze me with the extra "miles" they go to for the general benefit of the site.
