All the questions in today's 'problem' quiz were FITB, though, so I'm not sure that's the key.

Let me know if it happens again, and if it does, please try to describe as precisely as possible when the problem starts.

Is it when you click "NEXT" from the answer page?

rossian: since this has happened to you twice now, maybe you can help me duplicate it.

When a question is displayed, do you click your mouse button to hurry it up? Do you let it go to the top of the screen in its place on its own? Mix of both?

Do you ever alt-tab out to another screen / app / webpage while playing? Or have all the mess-ups happened during a session where you played the quiz from start to finish all at once without alt-tabing to any other windows?

Thx

I think I've worked out the problem with the flash game.

Rossian, is your computer somewhat slow in general? Old perhaps?

Not old or slow (although that could describe me, not the computer)! It's a laptop only about a year old and lightning fast, especially compared to my desktop. In reply to your first question, I do click to speed up the answer screen and no I don't alt-tab out, ever. One of the reasons I play the quiz game is to get the highest score I can because I've often played the QOTH previously and it adds some interest to play it in a different format.

Recently the title of a crossword I did in the past changed. The title was, and should be, Built off of Sly. I didn't make any changes to the crossword, but his is how it is titled now.

Being old wouldn't apply to my computer either, it's three months old, Windows 7, 3MB RAM, Intel Core.

Hm maybe the opposite then... transitions are so fast that they start to interfere.

In any case, I think I know how we can fix it.

BXB, clever way to get people to play your crossword... wink lol. I don't see a different title than what you said.

I noticed that for most of yesterday and continuing today, the area of the Team info and ranks page where the "Seen over the last 24 hours" is listed hasn't been updating at all.

Terry, I've played several quizzes today in game mode with no problems. I'm not sure if you've actually done anything, but the glitch seems to have gone (for now).

Rossian --

I am getting all sorts of weird errors coming from your web browser.

For some reason, your browser keeps requesting the file "login.stm" with most of the requests you make. Do you have any idea what that's about?

Do you use a login script, or proxy server, or some sort of strange corporate gateway or something to access FT?

Your browser is also making requests for:

top_description.stm
home.stm

Perhaps you have some plug-in that's doing this?

Sorry, I have no idea what any of that means. I couldn't access the site at all for about half an hour earlier this evening (about 3 hours ago). I've since downloaded Firefox and am trying that out, having previously used Internet Explorer. As far as I'm aware there is nothing out of the ordinary about my computer access.

Hmm, you might want to run a virus/adware scan on your machine then. Internet explorer was sending a bunch of strange requests to our server.

I found another transition bug - the search for existing questions in the Question Quest submission always comes up empty, even if I enter/paraphrase one of my own existing questions. Seems there's something not working with the indexes there.

I noticed a few days ago with the Question Quest search, not that it was coming up empty, but it was only matching words like "Which" at the beginning of the sentence, whereas it's usually more refined than that.

I'm not sure about submissions THIS week, but overall, i've noticed that when you do a search on whether a similar question has been asked before, it certainly doesn't find everything. I've even typed in questions from quizzes (not just QQ's) I've PERSONALLY submitted and nothing remotely like the phrase came up. Theoretically, I could have put in a question that I already had done so previously lol.

If it comes up with "this question is original", I will submit a q based on that. Believe me, I am NOT going to play 200 quizzes or more in order to determine if mine is totally "unique".

So, when people complain that others have "copied" other people's questions, I would argue that the search option isn't as thorough as it "could" be.

Yep, question search is pretty broken. The new version of the software doesn't support our old stuff, so I have to rebuild this next week.

Thank you Terry. I love the new layout as it is so much easier to read. Also, in this version, selecting a given category actually now makes a difference as to what comes up : )

In fact I've just taken 108 second to play Lit. in GC, and at least 58 of those seconds were it loading to play and then submitting.

Mine was going slowly last night, taking a while to load, but my sister's was fine, and she's on the same wireless network. I just figured it was my computer being temperamental - and it probably was!
