Own up, how many of you have entered your real name into Google to see what happens? Then, of those of you who did it, how many of you actually brought up yourself? I have done it, and yes I get the real me as well as some pretenders.

Don't think I've done that, but if I ddi, I know I'd have some things come up, but are not me.
I did see in a gaming site this morning another person with your FT name, Sue...she was here in the US.

I'd only try it if I thought there was a chance there was anything there, and if so it would be odd not to. My name is one that's pointless on its own as have tens in the same borough alone, let alone the internet, but if you add 'alien abduction' it picks a few winners. Not that it's happened to me as far as I know but I do work with people who say it has.

I've googled my real name and no, it isn't me who shows up. There's a Playboy bunny with my name who's got a killer body that I wish was mine. Maybe I should say it IS me. LOL

The only one I've found has been me. It's got my letters to the editor to various assorted newspapers and an old Linked in profile but that's about it.

I've done it before and got my profile on a few social networking sites (that I no longer belong to). Sometimes I just search people's names out of curiosity, even the characters from my novel! Slightly off-topic, but kind of related: once I was Googling for scholarship on a Latin text to write an essay, and the quiz I wrote for the book on here came up on the Google search! I was pretty pleased.

I googled my full name & apparently I'm a well known Catholic bishop. I made a note to myself to purchase one of those pointy ceremonial hats worn by Catholic bishops. My wife will definitely be impressed.

I used to show up in a google search for my name, on a list of graduating students on my university's website but it doesn't seem to turn up any more. I graduated two years ago though, maybe they no longer have that list posted on their site.

I managed to find a few with my name - a couple of them quite distinguished in their professional fields and one rich enough to own aircraft.
One lady authored a number of craft books and I am very into handcrafts, so I wrote to her and we corresponded for a little while. She even sent me copies of some of her books. It did feel quite funny addressing letters to my own name.

Yep.. as far as I went.. 4 pages of search results, I'm the only me there is ! Being president of the local branch of a world wide service club accounted for a few ; having written a few papers on various subjects in the past, a few more; and I'm listed as a staff member in present job, and as a volunteer member is several others. Genealogy sites account for the rest.

Apparently I'm a famous writer and a famous painter when I googled my real name - neither which is true Maybe it is because I tend to use "Jane Marple" (with a number) on most websites.

If I just google my name in, then there are a few me's, from professionals to a porn star, but if I google my name and the town I live in, then the real me is mentioned, quite a few times. I am quite involved in the local community, as well as being president of a well known expat social club, so from legal documents that I have published to articles of entertainment, and other activities I have been involved in, it seems that quite a bit of real me is on the net.

If I type in my full name there is no record of me (and frankly, that's the way I like it). My husband, on the other hand, is listed 3 times on the first google page.

Just checked Facebook... I'm the only person of my name on that as well ! The only other person I knew with exactly the same name as me was my late husband.. only the spelling of "Terri/ Terry" was different.

I'm also a photographer as well as being an author, a police officer (in the actual region I live), an Oxford professor of Philosophy, a chemist in Wales and an osteopath in the north of England. No wonder I'm so damned tired all the time!

Using the version of my name that I most commonly use, I'm a TV presenter, a barman in East Sussex, a lawyer in Dayton, Ohio and a blues musician.

Apparently I'm a surfer, a long distance runner, and a few teenagers. Not much variety, but I guess my name isn't the most common. ;p

There are eight people on Facebook with my name. I make glass beads in the west country, and I'm an artist who owns an art gallery in Mississippi. Last month I ran a half-marathon to raise money for Help for Heroes. If I'm not bothered about having my name spelt the man's way, I have been Chancellor of a university in NE England, where a language school is named after me, and I was also the chairman of the local football club. No, not really. I'm just on Facebook.

We just went through this on the The Vicious Circle chat. I'm the only one of me in the US. The first page and a half of results are for me. It's mostly "find out more about you for free(19.95 for the membership though)." There are a few newspaper articles and a horrid quiz I wrote in high school in which one of the answers is incorrect, though.
