I was just looking through our challenges and was stunned by how much STUFF there is to do here when you take it all in... a new player likely has 10 years worth of challenges ahead of them.

While you're coding, Terry, any chance to add the hourly mixed to http://www.funtrivia.com/tvt_lastmonth.cfm ? If it were in there like the other games, I could include it in the Team of the Year scores (as that's the file I get my source data from) and January is the best time to add it to the standings calculation.

Is there a reason why the 20/30/40,000 Monster Quiz questions are mini-badges and not regular badges like the others? Essentially, you have to do more to get the mini-badge than the regular badge.

Yes, the reason is to prevent level inflation - we want to keep the top players below or at least not much above 200. The next full badge is planned at 50,000 but that's almost 8 years of play from 10k, so we put in some minis to line the way.

It is on the pull down under Me > Gold Member Perqs (at the bottom) > My recent quiz scores (at the top)

Thanks for that response Mike.

Two monsters just arrived! I am always amazed when I see new players and within maybe six months they've reached level 100. Besides the time required for the points there's no guarantee you can actually win many of them but have seen some new arrivals eat up the badges which most people have taken many years to add. But there's always hard core to go if they do wink

Being how both NQ and hourly mixed are both QQ-based, maybe Terry could just replace NQ with Hourly Mixed? The questions in Hourly Mixed are more fully vetted and of higher quality.

That was supposed to be "are" more fully vetted, not "is". Geez that's bad grammar.

How about a badge for a certain amount of (valid) error reports submitted?

This has been discussed in the past and there are too many blind spots to be had with something like this. We already get people submitting 'suggestions' as corrections when there are no issues to be had.

I like the new badges. Thanks. smile

Idea for a future badge: I periodically get scores on quizzes that have a "meaning" such as 747 (jumbo jet) or 666 (!) or 911. I wonder if a badge/let for collecting a group of certain scores might make a nice companion to the 990? Admittedly it's a bit of a luck-based challenge, but perhaps fun?

I'd love that one.

"Final Countdown"

Get these exact ten scores playing game mode quizzes (shouldn't have a time limit, just go collect):

256 (Byte)
365 (Year)
451 (Fahrenheit)
555 (Telephone)
666 (Beast)
747 (Boeing)
777 (Jackpot)
911 (Emergency)
969 (Metuselah)
1337 (Leet)

The last one will of course require a 15 question or larger quiz...

Er... just being a pedant, but before it gets carved in stone, please remember that 911 is not the emergency number in many countries. But otherwise it could be a fun badgelet to get smile

Flopsy, I know, but it's still known worldwide. Besides, the alternatives of 999 and 112 both make for pretty poor gameplay smile

I'm for anything which reduces confusion about emergency numbers. You already have a number between 900-1000, why not leave Methusalah to count his age on his fingers and get rid of the only thing on that list which isn't international?

If the badge happens, is there a way to let quizbot quizzes count (once a number has been ticked off it remains ticked) because I think they would be very suitable quizzes to play for such a badge.

I have nothing else to competently fit in the gap between 777 and 969 (which is already understaffed - I would rather have one MORE number there before I replace the 911). The only reasonably well-known alternative from a number list I found would be 888, but that one's very religion-specific and as such a worse culture-bound reference than the 911.

By the way, 911 is just as common in movies and TV series as the stereotype 555 prefix (which also has a very US origin).

I posted this in the Daily Challenge addition thread a few months back. Maybe it could work as a mini as well?

Re-win all of the Achievement badges (score 10/10 in 40 sec on PoC, 10/10 in 80 on Smartest, 10/10 in 90 on Mixed...) in a certain length of time.

888 - in England we call that "three fat ladies", I'm not sure what it has to do with religion.

Oh wait, it's 88 and two fat ladies, well I'm sure they can budge up. wink

Edit: Chavs beat me to the Bingo... but did she call "House!"?
