"Jar of Hearts" - Christina Perri

This picture was taken specifically for the song. It was edited, too. Took awhile for me to make all the hearts and get them in there. smile

Flopsy - What a sad looking pier. frown Where is it?

Zebra - Well worth the effort, it's works perfectly.

It's the West Pier in Brighton & Hove. It was one of the most elegant of the traditional English piers, perhaps even the most elegant. But from the 1970s onwards it suffered a series of disasters - it was damaged by a devastating storm, a terrible fire, then another storm.

Brighton has another pier - former residents like me still call that one the Palace Pier but it has now been renamed as the Brighton Pier, no doubt a sad recognition that the West Pier will never be restored.

However, the photographer in me can't resist the West Pier as it is now - a derelict, burned, rusting hulk that absorbs light and makes the sea sparkle in contrast. Near every dead pier there's a camera waiting to pan out. wink

It's always a great shame when one of those magnificent structures is allowed to decline like that. We had a huge fire at the closest pier to me - Weston-Super-Mare - a few years ago. Fortunately only the building was lost so the owners were able to replace it. It's not as good as the original I'm told but it has to be better than letting it become another victim.

I'm torn between two titles for this one:
Either "Lady Madonna" by the Beatles or "Mother and Child Reunion" by Paul Simon

Glad you think those rocks are interesting Martin.. I certainly did. They're on the SE coast of Tassie and are over 1,000 feet high. They plunge into the ocean another 200 feet straight down. You can only get there via land with a ten hour hike. Some idiotic.. I mean brave.. Americans hiked the 10 hours then abseiled the rocks and climbed back up. I took the boat.. much easier wink Anyway, here's my next record
