Here it is- the tipping comp that no-one understands! Australians playing soccer? The A-league realised that playing football in mid-summer in north Queensland was a stupid idea, therefore we are back to a 10-team comp (no byes). There will still be the occasional game on Wednesdays, and also one entire round will be played midweek, in early January, 2012. Most rounds will commence on Friday evening, with a couple on Thursday- these will be clearly noted. Get your names on the list and also do not forget your lucky darts/octopus/tea leaves!  Rules [*] Threads will close prior to the start of the first game. [*] A bonus point will be awarded for a perfect score. [*] A bonus point will also be awarded for anyone that tips a result solo. [*] Ties will be broken in the following order 1)- HoF/Spoon differential 2)- Most Hall of Fame awards [*] Picks of all home games will be penalised a point. [*] Default will be equal to the lowest score each round. [*] Late starters will be given a score equivalent to the last-placed active tipster. Sign-up is conditional on two things. [*] Be prepared to stick it out for 26 weeks. [*] Vuvazelas are STILL banned! First round starts Saturday, October 8, and fixtures will be posted very soon.

- Season 2011-12 of the A-League soccer is up and running. We have 13 starters so far and one of the newer members has got off to a nice start.
- wwe84 scored 4/5 to hold an early lead. Can he keep it up, or is it a flash-in-the-pan?
- At the other end of the table BxBarracuda's dartboard must have been out of order. He is in good company, however, as four of the A-League teams also failed to score.

- gtho4 continues to lead, but his margin is down to a solitary point.

- wwe84 picked 4/5 in a very difficult week, and screams into the lead. He has opened up a two point gap over erstwhile leader, and this week's spooner, gtho4.
- Sydney was upset by little brother, Central Coast and Melbourne Heart had a win. Brisbane has not been beaten for many weeks now, and Newcastle was their latest victim.

There were 22 correct picks and there were 17 goals scored- pretty pathetic, eh? And only wwe has more than a 50% score, with 18/35.

Seems pretty typical for this comp, though. No one has ever done well. Looking back, the best percentage was around 40% correct as a whole for the entire comp. If you remember, I posted something awhile back (2011 Copa America) showing the top ten worst, and at the time, this comp had nine of them. It is still at eight out of ten now.

- srini701 finally won a HoF award and rockets from eleventh spot to, um, eleventh spot. Only BxBarracuda and paper_aero are sans a HoF.
- ozzz2002's dart board paid off, as he also picked 3/5.

- It is fortunate for us all that Central Coast won, otherwise the scores could have been REALLY embarrassing. There were 21 goals scored and we only totalled 17 correct tips.
- srini701 is on a roll! He just scored his second successive HoF. The fact that he was only required to pick 2/5 is beside the point. He was joined in the lofty heights of HoF-dom by gtho4, ozzz2002, Howie72 and triviapaul. Everyone else scored a spoon...
- Prior to this week, there had only been two bonus points awarded. There were two awarded this week, both to previous winners- triviapaul and FussBudget.

- BxBarracuda nailed his first HoF and closed the gap between himself and the rest of the field.
- Another poor tipping week- we got 18/55- a fraction over one-third correct.
- ozzz2002 managed to get a perfect zero and now has to share the lead with wwe84 and gtho4. Howie72 managed to pick the same teams and also spooned.
- paper_aero does not have a spoon OR a HoF. He is the only one missing an entry in either column.

- BxBarracuda scored back-to-back HoFs and is only one point adrift of the pack. ozzz2002 fluked a HoF and snuck out to a one-point lead again.
- Sypher was the only one to pick Adelaide over Melbourne Heart, and picked up his first bonus point. On the flip side of the coin, it was the only correct tip he made, so he also picked up a spoon.
- Spoons also go to FussBudget, paper_aero, triviapaul and George95.

Not that it's gonna make a big difference but shouldn't I have 21 points instead of 20 due to my bonus point?

- Almost half the field only scored a single point, mostly on Melbourne Victory.
- There is now a small gap between third and fourth. Time will tell whether it will be bridged.

- This week's superstar is triviapaul, who not only managed an amazing 4/5, he did two of those four solo, and picked up two bonus points. He screamed up the table from mid-pack to fourth possie.
- Erstwhile leader wwe84 picked up a spoon and allowed ozzz2002 to squeeze back into the lead. N-Bomb scored a spoon, too, as did Sypher, who has dropped so quickly that he is in danger of falling into the next thread.

- Apologies for the late advice, but real life got in the way for a day or so.
- wwe84 is in free-fall mode, picking up a hat-trick of spoons. This week he and N-Bomb both scored a duck.
- Howie72 managed to squeeze out four winners to ascend to the Hall of Fame.
- The Gold Coast v Central Coast game was called off because a fair proportion of SE Queensland and northern New South Wales is underwater. I cannot found out any details about it being rescheduled.

- No real changes this week, with gtho4 maintaining his two-point lead. FussBudget got 4/5 and broke away from the pack a bit more.
- wwe84 did NOT get a spoon this week! He left that honour to srini701, who managed to pick a zero.
- Only a couple of rounds to go, and paper_aero still does not have a spoon.

- With only a couple of weeks to go, the battle for the lead is extremely tight. ozzz2002 got lucky and jagged a bonus point and a HoF to bring him back level with gtho4.
- They are now a whopping six points clear of George95, who also got a bonus and HoF. He has joined FussBudget in bronze medal position.
- Spooner of the week this week was Sypher, with a zero.

- The bonus point whizkid, triviapaul, has struck again. Out of a scrawny 18 points between us, he grabbed almost a quarter of them, picking up a bonus point AND a HoF award. He is now only one point off the podium.
- There were three spooners this week, including a streak-breaking zero for paper_aero. BxBarracuda and srini701 also scored ducky spoons, or would that be spoony ducks?

Whaddya know? 2 ducks in last 3 rounds...I can challenge Ajit Agarkar* pretty soon this way * Ajit Agarkar was an Indian cricket player who once scored 5 ducks in 6 innings against Australia down under. The only innings he scored? 1 run!

- The penultimate week, and gtho4 has snuck away to a one point lead over ozzz2002. Next week's tips should be rather interesting.
- Third place is up for grabs, too, with FussBudget hanging on. Expect challenges from George95, who made his job a lot harder by picking a duck this week, N-Bomb, who is making a late charge, and BonusMan, triviapaul.
- Sypher picked up a bonus point this week and N-Bomb, paper_aero and BxBarracuda all scored 3/5 and get nice shiny HoF gongs to treasure forever.

- There had only been one perfect score prior to this week, and that was way back in Round 4. There were TWO this week, and both affected the placings dramatically.
- Firstly, ozzz2002 picked his best round in about five years and leapfrogged gtho4, to win the comp by a couple of skinny points.
- The other perfect score rocketed LeoDaVinci from mid-pack obscurity to third, his season high by miles, on a countback. My predictions last week were just a tad skewiff, as the young Canadian made a run akin to Kiwi in the 1983 Melbourne Cup (Youtube it, and see for yourself!).
- The Hard Luck Award has to go to FussBudget. 3/5 should have been enough to hold off the challenges behind him. Instead, he dropped to fourth spot. Fifth was N-Bomb closely followed by George95 and paper_aero. Despite picking up almost half of the bonus points awarded, triviapaul only managed eighth, sharing that possie with Howie72.
- wwe95 was leading in Round 15, but went into a long spiral downwards, ending up in tenth. Sypher cast a plate at the first turn and finished eleventh, BxBarracuda tailed off at the starting stalls and never made ground, and srini701! What can you say about him, eh? Well, he looked like he had fun.
