On page 73 in the year-end issue of PEOPLE, you'll find a full-page ad for Dove soap that wishes the readers "peace on earth, lots of happiness and Dove". The picture is of two bars of Dove posed so that the doves on the bar are pointed upward. But also in the ad is the instruction to fold the page over from point A to point B. Readers of MAD magazine will recognize this, because it's same as those famed fold-in back covers gracing the mag for many years! The Dove people must have cribbed the idea from those MAD guys! (BTW, if you do fold that ad, you'll find a winged Christmas angel!)

Did you know that Al Jaffee, the artist for those fold-ins, draws them on flat hard board, rather than paper? He doesn't actually see them folded until they are published.

I wonder what the age group that MAD is aimed at,for years i assumed that it was targeting teenagers and young adults, but now i wonder,i'm 51 and still reading it and still finding it funny.
I guess anybody who likes to see the usual gang of idiots poke fun at just about anything that needs to have a pinprick put in anything or anyone who takes themselves too seriously.
