When trying to do a chart update by using the 'update my chart' link, I am told that I have taken too many quizzes. Other players don't seem to have this problem. Is this a permanent issue?

I haven't been able to update mine in a very long time. I believe it is permanent.

Yes, I get the same message. There is another thread somewhere here in which the upper limit of the functionality of that feature was discussed.

Once you hit 10,000 quizzes played, the feature is disabled.

It's upsetting, though; because I like to see how many of which category I've played. And I was trying to get specific numbers in every category.

It was a somewhat new feature, though. I had played 25,000 before the feature was disabled, and it wasn't disabled for Kabdanis until 90,000. It disabled us all at whatever we were at, or at 10,000 if you had yet to reach it. :P


I wish it would activate again. I liked the chart.

Or, at least, take it off the profile when it's disabled.

If you're a Gold Member, you can go to Stats and Detailed Breakdown to see how many points you have earned in each category. It's not as nice as the graph, but hey, you could plug in the numbers to make your own graph if you find it easier to visualize.

I am a gold member and cannot find a selection from the home page task bar titled 'Stats and Detailed Breakdown'. From the 'Me' pull down menu I find 'Stats and Ranks' which has minimum performance data; and then there's 'Me'/'Gold Member Features'(at the bottom of the pull down list)/'My Quiz Playing Statistics'(where the results of each category are listed). This sure looks like the data the graph is drawn from.
Is there a 'Stats and Detailed Breakdown' somewhere that I missed?

Mehaul, I think even that "playing statistics" page has limitations because my page for that has come up blank for at least the past year and a half. I figure that it must be due to the fact that I have done close to 40,000 quizzes.

I have another question related to that link. It lists the quizzes we've written, and is convenient, but it seems to show fewer sunnies than when I look at my quizzes on my profile page. Why is that?

Sorry, mehaul, I should have specified that Detailed Breakdown is a separate link found on the stats page. In fact, it's the same page as the "gold stats" link you posted, though that page does seem to be heavily out of date too, as Ghosttowner pointed out. My total points there only add up to about 400,000, when I've scored over 2 million. It'd be nice to have at least that page updated if not the graph.

The Gold Member Statistics page is blank for me - it must have a nervous breakdown at some point! I have only played around 21,000 quizzes, which seems to be too many for it to handle. The graph gave up long ago.

I have played just shy of 5,000 quizzes (iaw Profile Page) and my longest bar, Brain Teasers, is showing just shy of 90,000 points. At 15 points per correct answer and average 15 questions per quiz, I've done: 90000/15 = 6000 correct answers, 6000/10q/quiz (10 instead of 15 to maximize the number of quizzes) = 600 brain teaser quizzes. Somehow that doesn't seem to square up with the 5,000 total quizzes figure. So, even if the stats are current and updating, they don't seem to be working mathwise. Going backwards on the 600 quizzes value times 150 points per quiz, checks that math out at 90,000 points.

Edit: Thanks for that direction Reeshy. Going to Me/Stats and Ranks, I found the Detailed Breakdown link in red in the bottom of the pages top area, right side.

I went to your profile page and saw ~400,000 correct quiz replies. At 15 pts each, that's around 6,000,000 pts. A rough add of the bars in your graph comes up to around 6,000,000 pts. So, is your graph updating even though you personal stats page isn't?

It seems that the sunnies on the Gold Member Stats page are for quizzes ranked in the top 10,000 but the sunnies on the profile (and the My Quizzes page) are for quizzes in the top 15,000. I have a quiz ranked 12,075 that has sunnies on my profile but not on my GM stats.

The only links I can find in the Global Challenge lead to GC statistics, not quizzes.

It would be nice to have this feature fixed so that it shows full statistics no matter how many quizzes you have played, but I suspect it would be more work that it is worth in terms of the overall site. Terry can only do so much!

MeHaul, You must see the graph differently than me! What shows on mine adds up to just over 2 million. When I try to refresh it, the message is that the size is too big. Haven't been able to update my chart for a couple of years.

I appologize for the guesstimate error. I did it by adding 1/2 mills and quarter and tenth mills. More accurately assembled is this list of values (in miilion units from chart top to bottom, still rough, rounded up and down)

Julia, thanks for getting to the bottom of this. From what I understand, they will be adjusting the number of quizzes representing the top 20% sometime soon to be higher than 15,000 (somewhere around 21,000 or so), and I guess it would be good to make the adjustment in both places.

Looks like the cut-off point is 8000 quizzes played. I have just passed that point and tried to update my chart - only to get an on-screen message telling me I had played too many for the update to happen.

How about an "Update the Chart Day" once per year (Or between each GC when the server is less occupied)? On that day extend the maintenance period to an hour or however long it takes to redraw all the charts.
