A.J. Allmendinger's B sample also tested positive for banned substance. NASCAR doesn't give the name of the substances which drivers test positive for, but Allmendinger's manager confirmed it was amphetamine's that caused the positive test. A.J. has chosen to follow the steps that NASCAR requires for a driver to receive reinstatement, which begins with entering a recovery program.
Carl Edwards got a new crew chief, but the same luck on Lap 13, of 160, as he brought his car in with issues under the hood and he lost a couple of laps before getting back on the track even though they weren't sure what the issue was. Jamie McMurray went in for an early pit stop on lap 17, while Brad Keselowski came in early on lap 20, which started the rest of the cars coming in bit by bit for their first pit stops. Denny Hamlin had the early lead and then Jimmie Johnson passed him following their first pit stops. Travis Kvapil brought out the first caution as he had some hard right side damage. Brad Keselowski stayed out and went from 21st to 1st. Lap 47 had Clint Bowyer spinning across the infield with left side damage and bringing out the second caution of the day. On lap 91 Keselowski pitted off schedule, soon after that Casey Mears brings out a caution and the leaders other than Keselowski pit, leaving him in first place again. Jeff Burton was the next driver to take damage and bring out a caution, this one with 35 laps to go. With 27 laps to go Joey Logano took some bumping and ended taking Matt Kenseth out of the race and leaving himself with damage. Jimmie Johnson dominated the majority of the race, pulled away from the field down the stretch and was joined by those close to him in kissing the bricks.
Hendricks & Gibbs cars dominated again this week as they took 5 of the top 6 finishing spot, with Greg Biffle being the party crasher.
The HoF was taken by srini this week with a solid 130 and gtho4 took this second spoon in a row with an 81.
Lots of movement this week starting with srini crushing his closest competition and extending his lead to a season high 41 points. The Fords had a rough day which led to rough days for second place BxBarracuda, illiniman and former 3rd place tipper gtho4 who dropped to a season low sixth place following tough times for Edwards and Kenseth this week. Jamie McMurray also played a hand in those three tippers finishing as the bottom three this week. Two of our tippers doubled up matching their scores from last week, as Sypher had back to back 118's and LeoDaVinci followed up his 109 from last week with another 109 this week.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. took advantage of Matt Kenseth's tough day and took the season points lead with 731 points, 14 ahead of Kenseth who is in second place.

A.J. Allmendinger's was released by Penske following his positive test. Penske ended their relationship with Kurt Busch at the end of last year and relaced him with Allmendinger. Sam Hornish Jr. is likely to continue to be the replacement, at least for this year.
A quick write up for this week. Jeff Gordon got his first win for the year and gave his chances of making this year’s Chase a much needed boost. He was followed by Hendrick team mate Kasey Kahne. While the top 2 drivers in points had bad days finishing 23rd and 32nd.
The HoF was won by Sypher with a 123 and while he made it to triple digits gtho4 still took this week’s spoon.
Next race is at Michigan on Sunday.

Watkins Glen is the second and final road course of the year and Marcos Ambrose headed in hoping to follow up his win on this track last year with another one.

The HoF was taken by BxBarracuda this week with 129 points and LeoDaVinci garnered the spoon with 73 points.
George95 moved into his highest position of the season and is knocking on the door of the podium in 4th place. BxBarracuda's HoF moved him into a spot where he is only single digits behind leader srini. LeoDaVinci, Illiniman and Howie are currently more than a full week of points behind and need to make some moves soon if they are going to have a chance at the podiums.
Jimmie Johnson's 3rd place finish this week has put him back on top. The rest of the top ten in order are Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin. The two wild card drivers are Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman. Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch are all on the outside looking it right now. Edwards can take one of the wild card spots with a win, while Kyle needs to make up 6 points on Ryan Newman, while keeping ahead of Jeff Gordon who is 4 points behind him. There are only four races until the Chase begins at Chicagoland.

Race write up to come.
The HoF was a close one, but taken by Ozzz2002 with 127 points. This week's spoon went to Howie72 with 86 points.
Ozzz jumps into a podium position and srini holds his single digit lead over Bx.
Greg Biffle is back in the points lead, 20 points ahead of second place Matt Kenseth now. Ten of the twenty-three races have been won by the current top five in points, sixteen races have bene won by the top ten and all races have been won by drivers in top 18. Last year three races were won by drivers outside the top twenty and one of last year winners, Trevor Bayne, finished outside the top fifty in points.
Next race is at Bristol on Saturday.

Brad Keselowski won the last 2 races at Bristol, but he ran into some bad luck this time and finished back in 30th place. Tony Stewart was racing Matt Kenseth for first place and Kenseth didn't give Stewart any room to slide down, which caused them both to crash and Tony to do a two hand toss of his helmet right off Kenseth's front hood when he drove by after the wreck. Carl Edwards also had late race issues with not enough gas.
The HoF was taken by Howie with 121 and Bx's charge twoards the top took a nasty hit as he took his first spoon of the season.
Everyone stayed in their places from last week and srini extended his lead back to 31 points.
Greg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have secured spots in the Chase. Kyle Busch moved passed Ryan Newman for the 2nd Chase position. Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Marcos Ambrose and Joey Logano can all take that spot from Kyle if they win next week in Atlanta.
Next race is at Atlanta next Sunday.

Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag at Atlanta and 2nd place finisher Jeff Gordon regretted not racing a little harder and more reckless, which could have put him into position to be in this year’s Chase. Tony Stewart never got his car going good and finished 22nd. Clint Bowyer had to change a battery midway through the race and he was never able to make it back to the lead lap. Carl Edwards bad luck continued as he blew an engine late in the race and his chances to make the Chase got dimmer. Jimmie Johnson didn’t get started off a restart fast enough for Ryan Newman and Newman sent Sam Hornish Jr. into back of Johnson’s car, which ended the night for both Johnson and Newman. Before last week’s race Newman held a wild card position, he lost it to Kyle Busch last week and the mountain to climb to make it back to the Chase got that much bigger.
LeoDaVinci crushed the competition this week and took the HoF with 121 points, while Howie took the spoon with 80. Surprisingly last week’s HoF winner, who was incidentally Howie, also had 121 points and the spoon taker, Bx, had 80 points matching this week’s.
This was the group’s worst overall week since week 1, as we only averaged 93.7 per tipper. This worked well for Ozz for pulled into 2nd place past Bx and is 36 points behind srini.
Greg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. secured spots in the Chase last week. This week Matt Kenseth, Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski and Clint Bowyer clinched top 10 spots. Tony Stewart is also guaranteed to be in the Chase, it is just unclear if it will be as a top 10 finisher or Wild Card, and that is a big deal because Wild Card drivers don’t get bonus points heading into the Chase for wins, which Stewart has 3 of this year. Kasey Kahne is guaranteed to hold onto his Wild Card spot and might make it into the top 10. That leaves one spot up for grabs and Kyle Busch currently holds that spot. Carl Edwards is the only driver with a mathematical chance to make the Chase without a win, to make it he would need to win the race and beat Kyle Busch by 26 points and Jeff Gordon by 14 points as well to earn that spot. Jeff Gordon needs a win, or to beat Kyle Busch by 13 points this week. Marcos Ambrose, Ryan Newman and Joey Logano essentially need to win at Richmond to take Kyle’s Chase position away from him. Kyle Busch has 13 top 10’s and 4 wins in 15 starts at Richmond, so that stacks the deck in his favor, but anything can happen on race day.

The race was delayed 1 ½ hours by a rain delay. Then it was a pit strategy during an in race rain delay that most likely cost Kyle Busch the spot he held in the Chase. There was a caution for rain on lap 276, and the top 7 drivers, including Kyle Busch stayed on the track, while other drivers pitted, such as Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon. As you can see from the results which group got the better finishes, as their fresher tires had them getting past the race leaders and taking command of the rest of the race. Denny Hamlin who led the most laps and Dale Earnhardt Jr. pitted right after the restart but that still put them further back in the pack. Jeff Gordon didn't have the best start as the car wasn't running right for him, but the team figured it out and got him a 2nd place finish, which combined with Kyle Busch's 16th place finish was enough to give Gordon the final Chase spot by 3 points. Clint Bowyer took the checkered flag and received another 3 bonus points for this year's chase.
Howie took his competition leading 6th HoF with 122 points and illiniman scored over the 100 point mark but took the spoon with 103.
We bounced back from out dismal week last week with one our best weeks, averaging over 110 points as a group and everyone scoring over 100 points. Srini opened his lead to a season high 42 points, while Bx slipped past ozz to recapture 2nd place.

Matt Kenseth survived a shock breaking in the middle of the race while Jeff Gordon wasn't so lucky as his top 5 car all day locked up out of nowhere and his day was over. Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson didn’t have the same trouble as they ran 1-2 most of the day, with Brad getting the win and taking over the Chase lead.
Srini, much like illiniman did last year, continues his dominance taking the HoF this week with 126 and gtho4 continues his rough season with the spoon for an 83 this week.
We had a good week as a whole, even though we were dragged a bit down under by a couple of tippers. George95 moved into podium position and it’s going to be a wild ride to the finish for podium positions this year.

Additional Note:
While doing the tabulations for today's race I noticed that George95's new line-up matched Sypher's, who was one spot behind him in the standings. This breaks the Blocking Rule, and the same fix that was used when my team was illegal was implemented here, which changed his line-up to that of his last legal line-up, and that is the one he used last week.

Denny Hamlin wins the race and Jimmie Johnson takes the lead in the Chase, once again. No one is out of the Chase this early, but Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle, Martin Truex Jr., Matt Kenseth and Jeff Gordon are over 30 points behind Johnson, which leaves little room for error through the last 8 races.
George95 went big and scores a 127 for the HoF and gtho4 took his second spoon in a row with an 82 as the Fords have let him down.
Srini extended his lead to 61 points. Bx took a risk to have 3 Chase drivers which cost him 5 points and it didn't pay off as even though he scored high with a 114, it wasn't good this week as that was only good for 7th and last of the top 4.

Talladega waited until the very last lap to have the bad wreck the Super Speedways are known for. This one right after a restart at the very front when Tony Stewart, who was leading the race, lost his pushing partner and Michael Waltrip was bearing down on him. Tony tried to get in line in front of Michael to have him be the pusher but instead Tony lost control, flipped over Michael's car sideways then landed on the hoods of Kasey Kahne and Clint Bowyer. Nearly everyone behind them wrecked and never crossed the finish line. NASCAR had a tricky job with the final running order, changing it soon after the race, then again much later after that. I went with the official final results from NASCAR.com.
The final change hurt illiniman14, who went from the HoF if it stayed as the 2nd change, to the final results. This he had Tony Stewart and the two cars whose hood Tony landed on and their final changes hurt them the most. As a group it was a bad day as well as we averaged well under triple digits and had the lowest HoF of the year.
Ozzz2002 took the HoF with 107 and illiniman14 had the misfortune of taking the spoon with a 78.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was out this week and he will be out again next week as he is dealing with concussion like symptoms after getting an undiagnosed concussion at Kansas during practice last month, then another during the final wreck at Talladega. That had Regan Smith in his the 88 car, Kurt Busch, who finished his run this year in the 51 car was in Smith's usual ride the 78, while A.J. Allmendinger, fresh off his suspension and rehab, made his return to NASCAR in the 51. With a lot of green flag running Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson and their teams played it the best, sneaking in for a fuel top off in the middle of the race following a quick caution, which allowed them to just make it on fuel, while others were all needing an extra green flag stop late in the race. A caution could have muddled things up, but they stayed green to the finish. Only 7 cars finished on the lead lap, and this is on a mile and a half run, which tells you how well those three cars did on their fuel windows.
Srini701 continues his dominance, taking the HoF with 130, extending his lead to 89 points which is nearly a full week. Ozzz2002 went from top to the bottom as he took the spoon with 80 points, as Regan Smith blew the engine in the 88 dragging his team down.

After having a lot of green flag racing the last few weeks, it was anything but at Kansas this week, which brought out caution on top of caution at times it seemed as the drivers try to get used to the recent resurfacing of the track. Most of the cautions were brought out by cars hitting the wall hard and usually involving blown tires. Aric Almirola brought out two cautions himself and hit the wall another time, on what was a great day for him otherwise. Casey Mears brought out the first caution on lap 31, of 267, it was Kyle Busch’s turn on lap 40, A.J. Allmendinger, driving in the 51 car again, on lap 71, Tony Stewart on Lap 81, Lap 122 had Almirola’s 1st instance, Lap 135 was Jimmie Johnson’s turn, Lap 147 was Bobby Labonte, Lap 155 had Danica Patrick trying to payback Landon Cassil, but it was her car that took the worst of it. Lap 166 was Tony Stewart again, Lap 168 was Marcos Ambrose and Trevor Bayne, while off that restart it was Almiola again, Lap 175 ended Greg Biffle’s hopes of a good finish, Lap 181 had some more bad blood that might carry over as Ryan Newman ran into the back of Kyle Busch, ending Kyle’s day, who said something to the effect of this not being the last of it between him and Newman. Lap 211 finally ended Aric Almirola’s day, which included leading 69 laps of the race. Lap 334 was Sam Hornish Jr.’s turn to bring out a caution. Matt Kenseth who didn't come out of the day without some wear and tear was the eventual winner.
Sypher was the HoF winner with a solid 122, while ozzz2002 took the spoon with a 104.

Jimmie Johnson powered his way to the points lead, while Brad Keselowski was just happy to move into the top 10 after starting back in the field. Denny Hamlin had mechanical issues with his car and is essentially out of contention for this year's title.
Srini does it again, taking the HoF with a 127 almost assuring himself the title for this year with 3 races to go. George95 solidified his 2nd place position with a 125 and is 29 points ahead of Bx, who is only 14 points in front of Sypher. The spoon this week went to LeoDaVinci with a 60.

It has become a two man race for the Chase Championship, and 5 time winner Jimmie Johnson is in the driver's seat. Jimmie won another race this week, but can't completely shake Brad Keselowski, who finished in 2nd this week, remains in 2nd overall position in the Championship and only 7 points behind Johnson. Clint Bowyer's solid year is getting overshadowed by the impressiveness of the top two drivers. Matt Kenseth was Dr. Jekyll again this week coming in 4th, Tony Stewart grabbed a top 5 and Kyle Busch continued his late season good driving with a 3rd place finish.
George95 and srini tied for the HoF with 129 and it is almost certain srini will win this year’s competition and George will finish in 2nd. While in 3rd Sypher just took that spot by 1 point from Bx. LeoDaVinci took the spoon this week, and with only 2 weeks remaining he is the first one mathematically off the podium. Illiniman can't mathematically repeat as champion, nor can gtho take the top spot, but they are not yet locked out of the podium entirely.

The big story this week was the talk of Kevin Harvick switching to Stewart-Haas racing, joining Tony, Ryan Newman and Danica Patrick, in 2014. This kind of upset Richard Childress who angrily didn't want to discuss the topic, since he owns the car Kevin currently drives and still has him under contract for 2013.
In a case of switching it up, Kurt Busch was in the 78 normally driven by Regan Smith for at least the last 2 years, while Regan was in the 51 Busch was in most of this year.
Martin Truex Jr. started in 2nd place, but by lap 7 he was sliding back due to power problems and was in the pits by lap 11. Mike Bliss brought out the first caution and the two overall leaders chose to pit then. Brad Keselowski stalled leaving his pit box and allowed Johnson to get passed him after he had entered the pit stop in 11th and Johnson entered it in 19th. Things started going horribly wrong for Jimmie Johnson with 78 laps to go when he hit the wall while running in the top 10, was out of the race and essentially ended his chances at the title this year. David Ragan wrecked with 38 to go and Tony Stewart spun out soon after the restart. Sam Hornish bumped with Danica Patrick and ended up with a tire going down with 15 to go brining out a caution. Bowyer, who was running 5th, and Gordon start messing around with 3 to go with Gordon getting the worst of it then staying on the track even though he was black flagged just to wreck Bowyer as he went by, collecting Joey Logano in the mess. The Bowyer crew found the Gordon crew right after and the melee began and carried on for a while. Clint came running but didn’t find who he was looking for, they all had to see the NASCAR officials at the end of the day and Gordon received a protective police escort. With #1 Johnson and #3 Bowyer in overall points wrecking this Chase is heavily in Brad Keselowski's control. Kevin Harvick who was leading just missed taking the white flag which would have ended the race, but the caution came out first. On the restart Danica spun out, with help from Jeff Burton, and got out of the way as Kevin Harvick took the win, and a host of cars running 5th and behind wrecked into each other heading for the finish line.
HoF this week went to BxBarracuda and gtho4, who just made it into triple digits, while Howie had a very unlucky day and took the spoon with a 51.
Srini is still up by 83 points on George95, who is up 72 points on Bx who is back in third and Sypher needs to make up 23 points to make it on the podium after the final race next week.

Jeff Gordon won the final race of the year and surprisingly it was hte first win for a Hendrick driver at Homestead. This was overshadowed by Brad Keselowski winning the Sprint Cup Championship for the year. Jimmie Johnson going out of the race sort made things inevitable and Clint Bowyer's 2nd place finish was able to move him ahead of Johnson in the season ending stats.
Ozzz2002 ends the year with the HoF and Sypher takes the last spoon of the year. Srini cruises to an 85 point season victory, George95 easily took 2nd and Bx was able to hold onto the final podium position.
