Is there a way to find out how many questions I've already answered in the Monster Quiz?

Yup-- it's listed on your profile page. The total also appears next to your name if you play the Monster quiz on any given day.

I took the Monster quiz this morning and it only gave me 12 questions (skipped three). I used the level perk to see if it was a fluke and this time there was only 8 questions. Anyone else having this problem?

Missing questions on the Monster quiz are most often results of situations that rendered the question unplayable in the format. Since the question base for that game never changes, a withdrawn question is simply skipped.

However when this happens, you should automatically be credited with a correct answer on the missing question, so if you answer 6/8, you should be scored 13/15. (I have however never heard of a set that had so many dead questions - the maximum I have personally seen was two.)

Doesn't it also omit questions if they've been removed from the site/deleted for whatever reason?

Pretty much same thing, yeah. If a question is in the monster database and the equivalent question in the current database is not playable for any reason (changed to a different format, offline, marked as ineligible for tournaments, deleted), it is skipped and scored as a correct answer. That's a side effect of synchronizing those questions with the main database so they will reflect any corrections.

I just checked your profile and you must be one of the most constant Monster players, having recently passed the 30,000 mark (you are on 30,780 as of today).

Maybe there is a problem with the game database beyond the 30k boundary - only Terry can check that. I could imagine that when it was originally built, it was never expanded beyond 30k and a bit of safety margin (enough questions for five and a half years) and that you have reached the edge of the known universe smile

By the way, did you get points for the questions you did not play (i.e. a score out of 15 with the unplayed ones marked correct)?

No, Wesley, I only received credit for my correct answers. Perhaps, I have hit some sort of limit. I only had 8 questions this morning.

Okay, next questions (doing some evidence collection until Terry sees this so that he has as much info as possible by then):

- Is there a pattern of filling the three difficulty groups or are the questions spread out?
- Are the numbers of the questions the lowest available for the set (e.g. 30811 to 30818) or are they spread out over the entire space of 15?

They were spread out over the 15 questions with gaps in between. I haven't paid too close attention to groupings though I believe the last two most difficult were there. Another player who is at the same number of questions tells me she is also experiencing this problem so it's possible you were right Wesley and we reached the end of the known universe. crazy

Or, maybe the monsters have been irked and are just eating the questions? There is a warning in the game blurb about keeping them calm.

It's pretty consistent now. Eight questions. The first six are normal and then it skips to the last two difficult ones. Of course I wouldn't taunt the monsters....

So most likely the medium difficulty ones ran out. If I had access to that, I would grab a bag or two of them, fill them in and see if that fixes the issue, but unfortunately, only Terry can do that.
