An English teacher was well known for being a fair, but hard, grader.
One day a student received a B minus on a theme paper.
In hopes of bettering his grade and in the spirit of the valentine season, he sent her an extravagant heart-shaped box of chocolates with the pre-printed inscription: “BE MINE.”
The following day, he received in return a valentine from the teacher.
It read: “Thank you, but it’s still BE MINE-US.”

Happy Day everyone!

"One Perfect Rose"
By Dorothy Parker

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet --
One perfect rose.

I knew the language of the floweret;
'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet
One perfect rose.

Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.

Ah, well ... Miss Parker was widely known for her rather questionable attitude about everything in general, I guess wink. All her 'wit' aside, though: Happy Valentine's Day!, everyone smile!

Happy Anniversary as well to the Knesset of Israel, who convened for the first time on this day in 1949.

Oh that's my favourite piece of Dorothy Parker - I like a lot of her work but that one's the story of my life, lol.

I'd better say Happy Birthday, Arizona while I think of it - PDAZ has been regaling the Llamas with information about the state for weeks now and our anticipation of today's anniversary of statehood is surpassed only by our heartfelt joy sorrow that the daily stream of facts is coming to an end. tongue
