What did wwe84 know about those two games he picked solo that the rest of us didn't? That, plus a higher score, and spanishliz's default, vaults him into the lead this week.
LeoDaVinci posted late, but before the games started, thus losing a point, although him picking up one of the Spoons this week didn't allow him many points to lose!
Two hit the default bug this week, and last year would have defaulted seven as that was how many road teams won, this year it is the higher of six or Wooden Spoon, and since the Spoon score was five, six points were awarded to both spanishliz and themonarch.
No one expected Oakland to win at the Trop, but it happened with an extra 1/3 game.
**A reminder: any inactive tippers will continue to receive default scores weekly. If they are in last place and 2nd last is several points ahead, they will automatically default to the 2nd last score.
Another reminder: games can be postponed due to precipitation, so there may not always be 15 games scored.

Several games went the way of the incorrect kind, as four games had no more than two correct, and six had no more than five - that's nearly half the games! No wonder we only hit paydirt on about 4/10 this week.
Howie72 had his dartboard checked as he knew the Twinkies would win at County, and two picked the Reds to win at the Stadium.
Only three people tipped more than half correct this week...I'd say we all need new dartboards!
We have our third leader of the season, and again, it's a two point differential.

Looks like just about everyone chucked their old dartboards from last week since not too many did well, as only the Spooners fell below 50%.
Not only did spanishliz and wwe84 take the weekly win, they were also the only two to garner a bonus for picking the Royals to win at Camden.
The three atop the leaderboard are only a point apart, as Howie72 and wwe84 are tied; wwe84 is on top since his HoF-WS differential is better (+2 to 0).

Teams are becoming more predictable and it is showing in our strike rates. There will always be those renegade games that will make you think, "What gives?" but now that we are in June, not as much. One division that is still tough to predict, provided any teams play one another, is the AL East, as all the teams are near or over .500 (Boston is one game under).
The numbers in parentheses indicate how many weeks a tipper has gone default. It will show either 1, 2, 3, or i. This week really wouldn't have mattered whether I go with six, wooden spoon score, or aways. All three matched this week.
**A reminder: any inactive tippers will continue to receive default scores weekly. If they are in last place and 2nd last is several points ahead, they will automatically default to the 2nd last score.
Another reminder: games can be postponed due to precipitation, so there may not always be 15 games scored.

Lots of extra baseball in these results, as three games took more than the allotted nine innings. We could have had a 16th game with all the extra innings, and still had some left over. 
The three last week in 12th are having a party, as they all stayed in exactly the same place, and all of them had the same score. How come we weren't invited?

Not a good week overall, as only six tippers out of sixteen even got seven right this week. If it weren't for LeoDaVinci and themonarch scoring as well as they did, we would have only had one break 50%!
Ozzz2002 had something amiss with his dartboard, and may need to toss it, as he only garnered two correct this week. Sypher and PaulE are both breathing a huge sigh of relief, as they only scored three, which usually takes the cutlery. LeoDaVinci is probably the other way, as he scored ten and missed out on the win, although if you look at the all-time Hall of Fame, there have been two tippers score 15 on a 16 game week, and not get the win.
Howie72 somewhat bucked the trend and entends his lead to seven at about the halfway point.
Three games did somewhat well, as there were at least ten that tipped those three correctly.

Methinks gtho4 bought a new dartboard, and it served him well. He almost picked the card, missing Oakland's loss.
The first game was the one that counted for the Yankees/Red Sox double dip.
LeoDaVinci tipped late, and scored seven before the penalty, hence the reason illiniman also scored seven instead of six. He was also the only one not to tip 50%.
It was mainly a homes week, as eleven of the fifteen games were won by the home team.

Mediocre at best this week, as we only get to about 45½% correct. Howie72 sees gtho4 take back over the top spot with a nine count, although themonarch went one better, jagging this week's win.
BxBarracuda needs to turn in his dartboard for a new one, as he snags his second straight Spoon and drops to his lowest position of the season.
There is a five-way tie in the middle of the table this week. They are four points ahead of the player below them, and five behind the player behind them.
Three players posted after deadline and grace time and scores have been adjusted accordingly. The comp organizer posted last week late by three hours (4:57am FT).
Only one game went on the list of completely missed, and, again, it was the Rangers game. Thankfully, ozzz2002 and dg_dave both didn't have faith in the Angels (don't know ozzz2002's reasoning, but mine is because they are a division rival lol), and jag a bonus point each for their efforts.

BxBarracuda must have kept his form from last week, as he takes his third consecutive Spoon. Three players take a weekly win, and paper_aero picked up his first on the season. Spanishliz went one better solely because she and ozzz2002 went with the Astros to win in Atlanta.
Fairly consistent scores by about everyone, save the six and seven scored by BxBarracuda (late tip dropped a point) and themonarch, respectively.
If only there had been a couple less go for the Yanks, they could have picked up a bonus point, and big kudos from me as I am not a Yanks fan...way to go Seattle on two hitting them! Somehow wwe84 decided that KC could beat the Rangers, and he was the only one to miss that one. BxBarracuda figured Cleveland's losing streak would end at Comerica, but the Tigers had other plans.

Even with a 12 and a 10, we didn't quite muster 50%. It doesn't help when five games are tipped by four and two games were tipped by no one. Two players scored 3.
Spanishliz defaulted and scored the minimum six points.
Themonarch takes the weekly wins lead with five, yet four players have none. There are only eight weeks left in the season!
Three went out on a limb and picked Detroit to win in Texas, but Mike Olt had other plans, by singling in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th with two outs.

Yet another week where ten road teams won! One I was hoping for was Cleveland this week, but to no avail. Spanishliz picked Boston to, and she gained a bonus point for that one, as well as picking KC to win at Kauffmann. Both BxBarracuda and ozzz2002 must have known that the Nats were due for a home loss.
Howie72's Spoon dropped him back to his lowest position of the season in 3rd. Even with ten apiece, neither BxBarracuda nor dg_dave moved up. 
We vaulted back over the 50% mark this week, but when four games are tipped by three or less, it could have been considerably better.

Second slugfest in Boston this week, and both times, Boston was on the losing end. This week sees illiniman14 see the same with only four right.
What did spanishliz know in Cleveland that the rest of us didn't? Way to go on picking against the Yanks!
Another week beating 50%, but not by too much. When you have six games tipped by five or less...it will do a number on strike rates. Thankfully, the Dodgers and Mets both helped considerably (31/32 correct)

Welcome back doomed to the MLB comp after about a two year hiatus. He starts even with ozzz2002, who was on the bottom rung, and falls behind as ozzz2002 takes the top honors with 12 this week.
N-Bomb pulls closer to gtho4 by one. At the pace he did it this week, and if the differential stays as it is today, he will take silver to gtho4's gold (3-2 countback). What will the next five weeks bring?
There are seven players fighting for the three podium places. Who will take that third position?
Themonarch defaults again this week, and is now halfway to inactivity. If only dg_dave and srini701 had scored more, then themonarch could have as well.
Per MLB's rule, the game noted with the * beside it was the game that counted for the Twins and Royals. The Twins swept the doubleheader.
**A reminder: any inactive tippers will continue to receive default scores weekly. If they are in last place and 2nd last is several points ahead, they will automatically default to the 2nd last score.
Another reminder: games can be postponed due to precipitation, so there may not always be 15 games scored.

Well, it looks like themonarch didn't want to go inactive, so he takes the weekly win by scoring double digits.
Even with only 14 games this week, the most common scores were 8's and 9's, as only three of eighteen do not score one of those.
The only game that could have garnered bonus points this week would have been the postponed game had the Rockies won...two picked the Rockies.
Exactly half the field went with Verlander and the other half with CJ. CJ dominated and Verlander sank, as did Dizart with the Spoon.

Just two weeks to go, and next week's thread reminds us that the final games are played one week from this Wednesday. It looks likely that the podium is finalized at this point, as gtho4 continues his four point lead over N-Bomb, and N-Bomb is five ahead of wwe84. The next slot falls a further four back, so barring a collision by the center fielder and either the right or left fielder, it will be commisserations for the rest of us. I'm sure N-Bomb is scratching his head after he scored 13 not to pull closer, but when the one ahead of you scores 13 also...
A few bonuses went out this week, as the three winners all jag one, plus Sypher's random (?) pick of Houston to win at home. Sypher has a fifty word limit on why he'd pick a team that has lost 100 games to win...lol.
Lots of us scored double digits this week, as only six players failed to accomplish this feat, and it shows by tipping almost 67.5% on the week.
Ozzz2002 has already earned the title of most Spooner this year, as no one else has more than four and ozzz2002 took his eighth!
Can anyone tell I am NOT a Seattle fan at the moment? Go Rangers!
On the other side of the equation, three people tipped late and deductions came accordingly.
**A reminder: any inactive tippers will continue to receive default scores weekly. If they are in last place and 2nd last is several points ahead, they will automatically default to the 2nd last score.
Another reminder: games can be postponed due to precipitation, so there may not always be 15 games scored.

The playoff picture is coming into focus, just as our podium is doing. Sypher is about the only one that is keeping anything fuzzy in that aspect.
Lots of high numbers provide us a nice strike rate (albeit not quite as nice as last week) of 61+%. The Yankees almost gave some players bonus points, but one too many picked against them.
Sorry, N-Bomb, no leniency regarding late tips. Barring a late inning home run (like in Oakland ), you should take silver. Can anyone tell I'm not an Oakland fan at the moment? That's one game I wish had jagged a bonus point or two lol. To srini: your tips were at 11:43pm Thursday, so they weren't even late per the actual deadline.
One week to go, and remember to get your tips in by Tuesday night FT time! Final games of the season are mid-week this week!!
