What do the green checkmarks mean next to the items on the list of Fun Trivia Challenges?

That should mean that you have completed that particular challenge.

That's definitely what it means. If you click 'Incomplete' in the Sorting options on the top left of the list, all the completed ones will go away, allowing you to see what's left unconquered.

That type of link just shows us what is on our own pages and not what is on your page. I offer that in case you didn't know.

Why do I have to CLAIM my reward, i.e., why don't I get it automatically like other badges?
For example see the challenge called: "There is no 'I' in Team".
I had to click on it to get my reward.

I'm not sure there's really a WHY behind it. Some challenges need to be claimed and others don't. It's just part of the challenge.

Such as Birthday, which I miss Every Single Year.

No, if I had a good reason like that it wouldn't bug me so much.

I wrote my first quiz in a February, and remember that because of other things going on in my life at the time. So every year, I think "Oh, February is here, I should check and see which day is my birthday" only to find that I joined the site in January. Every year I go through the same thought process, and every year I only remember it when I see that "January 20" looking out at me.

You need to set a reminder on your phone, and hope you are still using the same one next January.

I'll try to remind you on the 19th of January, agony.
