This was mentioned in a different thread, but I think it deserves its own thread so Terry will definitely see it. smile

We are nearing the end of the Amazing Quiz Race; the final leg will begin soon.

With this, there will be over 200 quizzes written that were part of this race.

That seems adequate enough for a new quiz-playing badge, doesn't it?

Perhaps "Marathon Runner" or something like that.

Kyle and I have been discussing this for a while. We decided to make a mini-badge for race contestants. It will arrive soon, and Kyle will be able to hand them out.

Heh... most definitely so. It's not only a substantial number of quizzes but a beautiful assortment of quality all across the board. That one would be a neat addition to the upper levels of the Tower (or maybe even a level perk badge. 50 and 75 really need more love!)

Terry - Salami referred to playing the quizzes, not the authors. The author mini is well known smile

Yes, for the race contestants, I knew of that badge.

I would also like to see a badge where one must PLAY all the racing quizzes. smile Granted, usually we like to see as many commissions and challenges as possible turn into badges...

But this one is extra special, and also HUGE. I think it deserves to become a new quiz hunting challenge. 200 quizzes, all different categories; not an easy task.

Yep, a "do the race quizzes" challenge sounds reasonable.

Whoo! I love those challenges. They are always some of my favorites (and not ONLY because usually I have a quiz or two in them...)

The idea is fine but could you could set a number less than the total (whatever that may be) to allow some optional quizzes.

Arguably 4 of my 5 race quizzes are quite niche - I fear for the ratings of these if obligation might breed contempt. At least if they're in areas people really really want to skip I can maybe save them, and by proxy, me, some heartache. (2 of them are VG and I am sure most people will want to skip them!)

Thanks.

I think Salami will want every quiz in. He's pretty determined to make me play the video games ones.

Yes, I am determined. wink

We have some spare quizzes in almost every section of the race... So we could have it set for whatever total there *should* be from the race, and the list would contain all the extras as well. So not everyone would have to play every quiz, but at least a pretty large chunk. smile

Yes, that was my idea as well - play ten entries from each task. This will leave a few additional options.

When all is said and done Terry, I'll send a master list...and a possible idea.

Preliminary thoughts on a possibility. It'll happen when and if it happens. Not to be vague.

Well, Kyle and I really LOVE to be obscure when it comes to things that might someday prove to be extremely cool but currently still need to be seen and approved by the big T.

Gee, I keep up. I thought Salami was a female. It says on his/her profile he/she is a badge tart.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that".

I think it's the second part of the expression that's more associated with females, Salami. I've always thought of you as being male, myself, but others I know have also said they thought you were a woman. Make of that what you will!

I think 'badge tart' is a gender-neutral expression. At least around this place. smile

As for taking the Race quizzes, I admit that I am not quite objective as I have gotten to know most of the Racers during this marathon, but I've been taking all of the quizzes as they come out, and they have been great! Even those on things I might normally shy away from have been well done, and I've learned something. I encourage anyone to play these, they have been really good.

I'd just like to say that although Salami said "it was mentioned in another thread", the mentioner was indeed the lovely and kind Shuehorn. No excuse for not giving credit where credit is due.

I checked out the link you posted earlier. That may be too arduous for me. I'm not much of an author.

You had to be there when it started at the beginning of January. Those who did not participate as writers can still enjoy playing all the quizzes. There might even be some kind of badge or badgelet for doing so - you never can tell around here. (This is not a promise, and it is not based on any kind of inside information, just on observation of the way kyle often manages to turn us hard-writing authors into a production line for new challenges on the site.)

In Australia, a "tart" is, er...how to put this delicately...a lady who usually works evenings smile

I'm always very careful about ordering tarts from the bakery as to which flavour I prefer.

Can't read the non-received text since I've already received the badgelet, but it looks good on this end. smile
