I'm still trying to figure it out. Frodo makes sense, but not Susan S. But I work on it till I get frustrated, then put it away until later. Sooner or later something should click.

Riddles aren't really my thing, so I haven't really looked at the challenge, however noting some people keep searching for hints, how about hiding a riddle hint under one (or more) of the higher level challenges - you could also add a penalty for doing so.

For example

Level 75 Level Challenge
Riddle Hint (1)

Explanation - click here for a hint to solve the riddle. By accepting the hint, you will be deducted x points (maybe 1000).

Level 125 Level Challenge
Riddle Hint (2)

Explanation - click here for a hint to solve the riddle. By accepting the hint, you will be reduced by one level.

I have a Word document on which I wrote the Riddle and my line-by-line interpretation/explanation. One line, which looks as if it has lots of information, is still represented by a ?, but the rest was enough to steer me in the right direction. Eventually. I don't know if I'll ever make sense of the mystery line!

Right, you don't need to fully understand everything to "solve" the riddle and get the badgelet. i think I know what each line means now, but I didn't need to know it all in order to get the prize.

I am banging my head HARD.

I just got the badgelet after leaving it alone since the first month.

I had actually solved the entire puzzle within the first coupole of days but because I couldn't get the badgelet I thought I was wrong and gave up!

So I'm the opposite to some of you - I solved it but couldn't get it while you got it without solving it!

So solving it doesn't mean you're going to automatically get it either - just to confuse you all even more.

OK, I solved the riddle, I still don't get the line with Susan S. Can someone privately message me what that line means?

Wow. I finally got it. And I, too, am banging
my head. I got the first part a long time ago,
but I still don't know what bread, milk,....etc
means. I have an idea, but at this point, I don't
care. I'm taking my swollen eyed, half delirious
self to bed.

Just wanted to let Terry know that I shall
be naming my brain tumor after him. wink

Don't give up, guys! If I can get it.....;)

I don't even have an idea that I haven't discarded for that line, but successfully ignored it on my way to solving the riddle. I still go back and look at that line periodically - it is irritating!

I noticed awhile back that someone asked to be emailed
privately re: Susan S. (since they'd already solved it)

If that's okay, a resolution to the bread/milk
quandary would be much welcomed.

If not, I understand. wink I'll deal.

Cheers!

I just had a moment of brilliance, after weeks away from the riddle, and I think I've figured out what both "Frodo and a tree (or with Bilbo's ring)" and "Indium plus thirty" mean! I'm so excited!

I now know the meaning of the Susan S. line, without knowing who Susan S was, the rest of the line was helpful...and I know exactly where to look! Yay smile

This thread is really making me want to try it, but I worry that, as I cannot even find where to start it , it is doubtful I have the mental capacity to do it.Can anyone point my pathetic brain to the starting line of this riddle thingy?

I suggest you start at the beginning of this thread and work your way back to this point. A lot of people have provided hints in previous posts. The fun though, is figuring it out yourself. I first discovered the badgelet a couple months ago, and tried hard at it but got nowhere. Then this morning I looked at it again, and suddenly it was all clear! No one who has solved it is going to tell you anything more than what is already in this thread. There's a reason only 245 people have earned it.

Ren - if you go to the challenges page, it's in there smile It's under the Garnet Complex and is a mini gold member challenge. Good Luck!

That seems like a more appropriate answer to Ren's question. *bangs head*. Clearly my response is no help without the actual words to the riddle...

Actually, the Susan S. was one of the first things I figured out.

Susan S. was actually one of the first things I figured out. But other clues were far more challenging. It's funny what's easy to some and difficult for others. wink

I really hope we don't need knowledge on Lord of the Rings for the line "Frodo and a tree (or with Bilbo's ring)".

I understand most of the first part, but have no clue. I think I know which Susan S. it is, but I can't really relate that to the rest of the riddle. The other lines of the first section were easy for me.

Now, the second section... have an idea for the second line, and am thinking of something for the third line, but have no idea about the first line. I bet I'm just overlooking something; after all, it is only in the Garnet Complex.

I haven't solved the riddle, but I've been told you don't need to solve every single line in order to solve the riddle.
Except for the last line of the first paragraph (... Takes its toll) on me (and Susan S.) I have an idea on every other line--some I am confident on; some I have multiple ideas.
When I first saw the challenge page, I thought the text box to enter the answer in would be on that page. However, I was wrong, and I don't even know where to go to type in my answer (I have two ideas though but without a more narrow list of guesses--none of which I'm even sure is right--I haven't really tried to input all my guesses.)
