Is there any chance of more scavenger hunts in the future?

Most definitely. A pretty extensive one is currently being discussed by staff and has a good chance (although not certainty) of becoming reality in a few weeks once the last few quizzes needed for it are online.

Thank you! They are my favorite thing on Fun Trivia besides earning badges!

Prepare for playing upwards of 200 top quality quizzes if that one should happen smile

I'm not a staff member, so I can speak only of the player's side.

There are some challenges in which you have to play a certain number of related quizzes (and score reasonably well). The easiest of these scavenger hunts name the titles of the quizzes to be played, but harder hunts give only the criteria and let you do the searching.

You could for example take the "Amethyst Scavenger", one of the introductory challenges, to see how this works for a player.

Thanks! I'll give that Amethyst Scavenger a try.

Well, I just looked for it and it seems I completed it without knowing. Yikes, that was easy!

Well, can I suggest Mission Impossible next then, Tatwood. That might be just a little more of a challenge for you.

Here's a link to all the scavenger hunts, although you'll have to hunt for them on the challenge page to actually get the list of quizzes (pun intended).

http://www.funtrivia.com/scavenge.cfm

Rossian suggested Mission Impossible - it's not a misnomer. You have to play 120 quizzes with "Impossible" or "Obscure" in the title, and score reasonably well in all of them (I think it's something like 4/5 in each regardless of number of questions, but it was a while since I did it).

It's 50% for Mission Impossible, just like it is for nearly all other scavengers.

There is a section on the home page under Gold Members which tells some of the gold member scavenger hunts available,

There is also the Busy Bee Scavenger Hunt that runs all the time. Info about that can be found in the "Buzz".

AdamM7 didn't mention the other tiny, little detail with Mission Impossible. There is no list of quizzes to refer to - you have to track them down, too.

Did I mention that the quiz search function of FunTrivia itself will also not be sufficient to solve Mission Impossible and that you will need to resort to more creative methods? smile

That thing isn't a Diamond level challenge just because we like the name, it deserves every bit of that rating.

Wesley, I cannot wait to see the new challenge with 200 quizzes... Am I correct in assuming that I know what it is, and have a dozen or so quizzes of my own in the challenge? Or will there be TWO new challenges in the future? wink

Eeek. But thanks for the suggestion, rossian. That hunt sounds quite a bit out of my league - I got my youknowwhat handed to me in my first Global Challenge this past one. And I'm a full-time gardener and the 2012 Spring Gardening Olympics are hovering hideously on the horizon. Horticultural horrors await me.

And wesleycrusher, I need to know who Wesley is and why you want to crush him?

I take it you're not a big fan of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'. Or of the actor Wil Wheaton, who played Wesley Crusher, and is Sheldon's nemesis on 'The Big Bang Theory'.

Aha. No, not a TV watcher, and I make it to the movie theater maybe once every five years, at best. Think the last time was 'Finding Nemo.' Too busy, and can't sit still for very long. Also have a very short attention span...
Thanks for the explanation!
Best,
tat

Swami, it might just be that you are correct. The description was pretty obvious to an insider after all smile

Well, 60 of them are easy to find, but most of the quizzes are quite obscure/slightly impossible. Fortunately, there is a very good way to find the quizzes... although it may take a while to find and we're not going to tell you it, it would spoil the fun. smile

You could of course try some of the easier hunts - for example the "Invertebrate Infestation".
