On the link on the left hand side when you click challenges and then Diplomat it says you need to refer 3 people and get them to sign up to win the badge. I have done that but no badge. Then I saw somewhere else that is says you have to refer 4 people. I am confused is it 3 or 4? I was all excited that I finally won the badge because I've been trying for a while, and now I don't have it.

Thank you.

Have you checked the tracked referrals? If three addresses are showing up there, copy the link and paste it here and request that the badge be given a kick. That's what it took for me to get the badge. It only takes three.

Surely one should not be posting email addresses here? Security, and all that...

The kick is not immediately effective, but it does work. It took about a week for me to get my badge. Hang in there.

But no editor has replied so I don't even know if they are seeing that I have a problem, or maybe they just don't reply and it just gets kicked.

An editor wouldn't be able to field this one-- it's a question that seems like it needs Terry to answer. wink

Kyle is right - the silence is simply related to the fact that not even an administrator could help you on this. Only Terry can.

There's a post by Terry back in January in this thread, where he seems to confirm that it's three:

I could be wrong, but as far as I know you do only need 3, but sometimes the badge doesn't award. It should award within 24 hours at the very latest (and definitely not a week), but it could need a "kick" (and it could take a week before Terry kicks it) as there have been a few complaints.

Possibly some code needs to be re-written, and Terry, if you're reading this, you definitely need to change

It's 3. I have exactly 3 referrals and the Diplomat Badge. And I needed to wait a few days (and possibly post about it on the forums for Terry to see) before I got the badge.

My experience was the same. Three referrals and about a week or ten days before the kick administered the badge. It will come.

This is a pretty buggy badge. Send me a note via our feedback system if you complete it and it doesn't award you the badge within a couple of weeks and you'll get it added manually by an admin. Thx.

I have a third ready to join and I would like to earn the badge.

My third referral joined yesterday using the correct procedures and does not show up on my list which still only shows one. All 3 referrals were done the same way, and were automatically added by the system to my 'friends' list. The first 2 became Gold members when they joined in January. Something has been snagged in the system. Any insight to this?

That is so strange. I had four referrals sign up in the past two weeks, and they all showed up fine, and the badge was awarded...

You only get credit for the referrals once they have played and earned 1000 points on the site. Perhaps your recruits haven't played enough yet.

Only two of mine have scored 1000. I got credit before any of them scored that much. According to the challenge page you don't get 500 bonus points until they score 1000, but that doesn't have any effect on whether or not you earn the badge as far as I can see.

Mine have all played more than 1000. And by some magic today, they are now on my referral list. But no badge yet. I thought that 'buggy' from last year had been fixed, after reading kaddarsgirl's earlier post. Hopefully after the reset tonight it will appear.

For some reason I thought the gaining 1000 points was no longer a requirement.

I'm positive it has, as I have the Ambassador badge, and have multiple referrals who didn't score the 1000 points.

I have had 5 referrals for a couple of years, but have yet to earn the badge.

And some people have played for a week or two, or only one day in one case, and got the badge immediately. It says it will be awarded every 12 hours but something has gone amiss. Time for a nudge.
