I have been trying to clean up the last bit of my Intro Challenge, needing one more to graduate.

I have chosen to participate in "We Have All The Questions", and in fact, I followed the step-by-step directions under the Question Quest Posting Page.

Thus far I have submitted 2 questions using that wizard over the past few months.

I have never gotten any feedback after the questions were submitted - once I composed them, the next thing I saw was that they were being checked. I see nothing about either question on the page that tracks submissions.

What am I missing and what is the process from that point?

Can somebody enlighten me on this?

Thanks, in advance, for your time...

Regards.

Tom

If you go to this page: http://www.funtrivia.com/questionpost_me.cfm (can be found from the page where you start composing your questions), you should see your questions listed under either Rejected, Accepted, or still Waiting to be Checked.

Another way to get to that page is to go to 'Me' on the Quizzyland Homepage. On the dropdown menu that appears, scroll down to "My Single Questions: Edit!" and click.
You will then be on the Single Question/Question Quest Home Page. Over on the right side of that page's top box are all the links to use to track your progress on writing single questions. If you don't see your Question on the page Guitargoddess cited, try looking into "My Contributions: Rated". If you hadn't known where to track your submissions' progress, they may already have been through the review and rate process. After they get rated they go to that second page.
The bottom half of that QQ Home Page is the place to go to submit more questions.

That's assuming, of course, that you've chosen to have pull-down menus available. wink

Aren't those pull down menus also only a Gold Member perk? Not sure if they are, but I personally love them.

Still travels the Me/My Single Questions: Edit! route. GG's words of advice work for recent submittals. Windycityprog said the Qs were submitted months ago meaning they might be past that stage. I only was trying to let wcp know where else to look.

No worries. It's a good suggestion.

That is the page I use to check - it is a link from the "We Have All the Questions" page.

Nothing is listed, absolutely nothing...

This is where I got confused- nothing has ever been reflected under those 3 categories.

This is the template page where I wrote and submitted questions.

I have looked at every link you cited, there is nothing listed under any link.

Neither question is acknowledged.

This is more than a bit frustrating...

Is there any other way to check on their whereabouts?

What now?

I may try a third time soon, but I have to wonder if the same result will ensue?

I followed the template, added my question, and then the next screen I saw was that it is being checked against the question repository, or whatever it's called, for validity, I assume.

After that screen, I never saw anything again about the questions.

I couldn't even tell you what the questions were because it's been so long.

Frustrating, at best.

Well according to your main site profile, you've authored no questions. That could be for a couple of reasons: either you never completed the submission process, perhaps only getting as far as the final review screen but never actually hit the final submit button. Or, they were deleted outright by an editor, but that's really only done if you submitted complete nonsense. I think many editors would still send the question back asking you to only submit real factual questions rather than just deleting; I probably would.

Is it possible that you didn't full complete your questions and actually submit them? Did you fill out everything, including question, answer options and interesting info?

What category were they in? Do you have a general memory of what the subject matter was?

From your description of the process, it sounds as if you only got as far as having your question checked against current ones to let you know if it seems to be a repetition of any previous submissions. There are several more steps to the process:

When you see the screen listing some questions already in the database, and check that none of them are similar to your planned question, you click the link that syas 'My question is NOT displayed above - my question is original'.

Then you see the screen on which you enter your answers and extra information before clicking 'Next'.

You then see the review screen, which gives you a chance to read your work carefully to make sure that it says what you wanted. If you need to make any changes, you hit back on your browser and do so; if it looks fine you click submit.

You might like to try again with a new question, keeping in mind the sequence of steps you can expect to complete in order to have a properly submitted question.

One final question before I try again:

I have tried this three times now from the "We Have All the Questions" under the Intro Challenge section.

Is there an alternative place to compose a question?

I composed another(last night about 10:00 PM CDT) question, this one under music about Gibson Guitars and Les Paul - again, using the template driven page under "We Have All The Questions", I get as far as the composition, submit, and then to the dialogue box saying that it was checking, and then nothing.

No screen showing similar or dis-similar questions has ever come up, never...

I would expect there are other steps to the process, but I can't get past the "it's checking", then nothing.

Must be something wrong with that link. Use this page instead http://www.funtrivia.com/questionpost.cfm and it should work well for you. You should still get the badgelet - I didn't use that page at all, and it tells me I have completed the challenge.

Once you've successfully submitted and had an accepted question, that Challenge page link will disappear. So you should know the other ways to get to the Question Quest page. Many of the hourly quizzes have a link at the end of the answer page to submit Qs. Those Games also I think carry a link to the Question Quest page on their game home page. The Daily New Question Game has a link in several places to the Question Quest home page. And, the Me > My Single Questions: Edit! is the straight to it route. If you were a Gold Member, once there, you can evoke the Question Quest home page as one of your favorite destinations on the favorites bar.

Agony,

That is the page where I submitted the 3 questions. After I enter the question, it stops the process, or rather tells me it is being checked, then nothing, it just blanks out...

That is the default page for "We Have All The Questions" from the Intro Challenge.

I am more confused now - I will try the alternative avenues and report back.

It's getting more and more frustrating...

Thanks.

Can you please paste the question text you tried to use here? At the point you are at, you should be seeing a screen that shows you a handful of questions that use similar words than the one you wrote and give you the option to continue ("My question is original") or to go back.

It may be that something in your question text confuses that search so badly it can't display the results - the only way to find out would be if we could test it with your exact question.

Thanks!

Wes

Please note that Shuehorn has pointed out another (?different) failing to that page's link in the Forum Feedback area,

Actually, my complaint is not about this link. My correction is that the link to the New Quiz Game is pointing to the place for submitting new questions.

Having awareness of all the incidentals of a problem is necessary for accurate and effective problem solving. Without knowing the other steps that are associated with the failure (bolts that aren't needed anymore still being delivered to the shop floor) I might incorrectly write a process step that calls for holes to unnecessarily be drilled so the bolts will be used)
Maybe the link problems aren't related and maybe they are, but for sure, the troubleshooter needs to be aware of all instances of failure. Sometimes, fixing one thing can make another worse, requiring the post fix measure of any further exhibited problems.

Again, I am pointing out that there is no viable link to the New Question Game, and that the link that is purportedly to it goes to another place. I have tried to be clear and I apologize for the twists and turns that the threads have taken.

The link from the "We All Have Questions" in the Challenge area for an "Ask" badgelet should go to the Question Quest page where you follow directions to generate a question that will appear in the New Questions Game. Submit a question, get a mini-badge. You don't win a badgelet for playing the game but for contributing to the question database. So the link should be to the Question Quest page and not the game itself. Sue, is there another challenge that you are talking about where there should be linkage to the game? I think even the challenges for 50 and 100 good questions should go to the Question Quest page. The viable link to the New Questions Game is on the Quizzyland Home Page in the Daily Games column. But, see here:
Your point to have a link to the Game from related pages should be considered valid and worthy of having new additional links installed, imho, smiley face. Exit stage overhead to harps and organs and choirs of angels singing "Glory Be"s.

Edit to ask: How are you even seeing a link on the "We All Have Questions" page? Once I won the prize the link disappeared. That would lead me to think you are referring to either the 50 questions, 50 or 100 good question badge challenges. My challenge pages show all the links disappear once you've completed the challenge. I only have the 100 good Qs left and that link takes me to the Question Quest page. So, is there another Challenge you are talking about?

Yes, it is different, mehaul. I am talking about another challenge altogether.

There is a daily game called New Question Game that is visible on the home page. In the Emerald Cave, there is a challenge called "Achievement: New Question" which awards a badge is the player scores 10/10 in the New Question Game in 90 seconds or faster. THAT is the link I am talking about.

If you see another missing link that needs to be fixed, maybe you should open a separate thread for it in the Feedback Forum.

This really shouldn't be in the Author's forum at all, but I am trying to clarify. I apologize for any confusion.

There is nothing of what you describe that comes up.

No follow on screen ever comes up after I go through the wizard in the box that tells you to write your question and then submit.

I find it very difficult to believe that three questions I submitted were so garbled as to be unintelligible.

Seriously?

One more thing I'm going to try...

I am going to submit another question through the process I have tried now 3 times.

At every step, I will take a screen shot and also indicate the URL of the screen.

Let's see what happens the 4th. time.

The screen shots will be helpful, thanks.

We get some extremely garbled questions come through, so I doubt it has anything to do with your question.
