Many of us are part of teams which 'span the globe'.

My idea is for a member's location be part of their details, (along with their username and avatar), whenever they make a post on the team's message board.

Yes I'm aware, it could be argued that if you know your team-mates well, you will already know their locations, but this doesn't apply to new members.

Messages such as: "Goodnight everybody" or "It's hot this afternoon", which can be confusing, particurly to a new member.

When that happens to me, I usually check on the person's profile to see where they are from and read the other interesting information there. Of course, that info is available on this side of the house, so maybe it wouldn't be impossible to implement, even though the two boards are on different platforms.

I think that is a good idea - even with some of the more active players on our message boards I often forget where they come from.

Most of our team members mention their location when making such a comment.
