For the month of May we will be reading from the genre of Adventure novels. Please feel free to post any suggestions of novels to dicuss in this thread, then we can have a vote about them.

I apologize for my foreseen lack of participation in April. I will be in the midst of finals, a thesis defense, job interviews and other commitments. However, I hope that the discussion of The Name of the Rose will be very lively!

But how about a nomination for a book you'd like to see read in May? smile

How about Treasure Island, 'cause I have it on my bookshelf and I was supposed to read it in a 4th year class and never did smile

I've read this one, but no one wants to know how long ago. Over half a century. crazy Might be time for a reread, lol.

In case it is a factor for anyone when it comes time to choose, Treasure Island is available free from Project Gutenberg in several formats, including audio.

I won Treasure Island as a form prize in school when I was 10 - still have that very same book but havn't read it in I don't know how long.

So that we have more than one choice, how about

King Solomon's Mines - Good old fahioned Victorian adventure story written at a time when Africa was only just being properly explored.

I'd put forward The Call of the Wild just because I've heard good things about it and it will make the voting interesting.

Here is where you can find it for free download electronically:
