There is a chance - it flew into my profile just the other day!
There may be a case for increasing the number or frequency of badge awards, but not solely because of increased membership. The actual number of visitors each day is the relevant figure, along with taking into consideration that every day someone retires from the pool of prospective winners.
Anyway, luck is luck - without everyone believing that this could be their lucky day, lotteries would not be the money spinners that they are for governments and private corporations around the world.

If ducks could be restricted to those members whose log in name begins with 'S' and ends in 'urdoux' I would be extremely grateful.

I always thought that it made no difference if someone has already won the duck, they are still in the pool (no pun intended) of possible winners each day. This was from a reply here somewhere to someone, ages ago, who asked why a duck wasn't awarded on a particular couple of days they'd noticed. IT was said that the duck must have been awarded to someone who already had it, resulting in no duck on those days. So the pool does get bigger every time someone joins iirc.

So the pool does get bigger every time someone joins iirc. The pool gets bigger, but only for a day. If there are 5000 members who log on/are active each day, it doesn't matter if there are 5000 total members are 5 million total members. I like Wesley's idea - I'd maybe make it a point/level thing. You could even move it to level bonus challenges, although you might need to create a new sub-heading based on the level requirement.

As someone who has had the Duck for a few years now, I can say with some authority that what this site needs is more hoisin sauce!

Surdoux: you're too funny : ) As someone who has had the Duck for a few years now, I can say with some authority that what this site needs is more hoisin sauce! Oh dear, if your duck has been marinating for a few years, I don't think hoisin will help. An (appropriately solemn) interment might be in order though I would hate to win a "devalued" duck! Would that be like a lame duck? lol

I'll have to try and sing on the tune of the "Wolgalied" from "Der Zarewitsch": (ahem ahem) "Du hast im Himmel viel Ente bei Dir, schick doch eine davon auch zu mir".

The Duck isn't the only random daily present from the site. The other day I received the Perfection badge, given randomly each day to someone who scored perfectly in a game the previous day. The badge is a trophy cup just large enough for a duck to marinate in. Now that I have the pot to cook it in, where's my muscovy?

It's called Perfect Score and there are many ways get it: a) Score 100% in as many quizzes as possible in one day b) Score 100% in at least one quiz per day c) Wait for it to appear without trying d) Get it randomly without even knowing it exists

I tried method B, but when I finally clenched the Perfect Score I thought it was method D.

I am installing a new Gazing Ball (plain glass, couldn't afford the crystal version) and my installation instructions say I need to annoint it with something that will imbue it with the sense of easiness and thus insure success in the prediction realm. I was thinking of using 'water off a duck's back' for the job. Would any of you duck owners care to collect some for me? I have some extra funds from going glass rather than crystal.

TY,vm MarchHare007. I hope the shipment gets through quarantine soon. When it does - check in the mail. Hmmm, will the water still spill counter-clockwise when I pour it on the glass globe here in the right, top side of the Earth? Or spill clockwise on the top and CC on the bottom of it? If it goes CC, does that mean the ball will only tell me accurately which words won't win (Satguru's problem)? In any case, thanks for the effort. I hope the duck enjoyed it.

Discovered a new phobia today - Anatidaephobia - which is apparently the fear of being watched by a duck. Symptoms include, a dry mouth, shortness of breath, muscle tension, trembling, anxiety and feeling out of control. OMG! I've got it!

No George, I don't know how annoying it is to hear a duck quack, in German no less, day after day, but I'm sure you could enlighten us.

I got Perfect Score, and that's sort of random. I'm satisfied. If I get the Lucky Duck I'll be happy, but I don't mind that I don't have it. That's the fun of it. Sometimes you just get lucky!
