I truely understand that imitation is a form of flattery but a team has recently been set up calling itself ITS ALL GOOD with a spiel about I AM GOOD YOU ARE GOOD I AM COOL YOU ARE COOL etc now my team which has been set up for about one year now is called ITS ALL GOOD:) yes we have a nice smile at the end our comments at the begining ( and I would like the chance to refine them actually are) I AM KOOL YOU ARE KOOL WE ARE ALL KOOL WITH A NICE SPICE OF COMPETITION now I am wondering if this is plagiarism Ipersonally believe that the spirit of this other group is plagiarising my group and I would like them to cease and desist - but they are welcome to join the existing group, or if not to change their name THANKS Cathy (underscored)

Hi Cathy,

I assume you are talking about http://www.funtrivia.com/team_info.cfm?gid=26937 which matches the criteria you are describing.

This is a group you created yourself, 10 days before the one you are leading now (Jul 27, 2011 vs. Aug 6, 2011). It seems you handed over leadership so that you could leave and form a new one. Now a newly joined player has taken it over and reactivated it.

Of course with them being older, that would actually mean they have the older rights to the name and identity. So unfortunately we cannot help you - there is no foul play involved, just a player taking possession of something you discarded and left around free for the taking.

Yes ok I had a family member near death for a long time actually he has been doing that for near twenty years now and I could not continue with it. (the leadership that is)
How can I approach this person with a wiew to merging. I always thought the first one was a better speil it did not sound as good the second time around ....you know I was spun out at how simialiar that sounded like a deja vu feeling and now I know why.
Thanks for explaining that.
Cheers Cathy

Just a suggestion ~~ How about changing the name of your current team, and changing the write-up? I'm sure you could be just as clever, again, as you were with the first smile

This could quite possibly be a good idea - it does sound a bit woosy ( possibly not even a word) for a reason -as I have a dedication to non-nastiness and not being bitchy to anyone. Chilling out is just not a natural condition for me.
To me it would have to be a democratic process - to change the name as we have some very dedicated teammembers BUT by the same token I would like the Intelligent and driven - to come out a little more in the title.
I am just as likely to change the title to - THE SHARPENERS - second choice from - THE TROJAN HORSES - apparently this would change its definition considerably in a cross-cultural sense. I know that in Australia if someone is called a Trojan it is a compliment - meaning that person has inner strength BUT I was made aware that in some contries it is considered a condem although I can imagine what it would mean I would like someone to enlighten me as to the exact meaning.
Thanks for that postcards2go as it will certainly (hopefully) start up some chatting.
Cheers

Cathy

Cathy, 'Trojan' is a brand of condoms in the U.S.
Perhaps an administator can enlighten us, but I would think that the pairing of 'Trojan' with 'horses' shouldn't be any sort of problem.

It wouldn't cause a problem in this particular regard, however Trojan Horses are also associated with malicious computer software and underhanded treachery in general. At least in Europe, the term has acquired a generally negative connotation.

Well first of all I dont what a team named after a condom. Now having really thought about the Trojan Horse and the saying that came from that incident "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts" If I were in Europe this act of treachery and the emotive connotations attached would be very deep.
I can literaly imagine someone offering a gift of peace and then pulling a stunt like that - it is something I would make sure my grandchildren would not forget and their children either - maybe it is possible to win a war and lose every battle after that, I believe the isolation of Australia has muted and mutated the meaning. Thankyou both for your very interesting input. I wil be leaving Trojan Horses back in ancient history - if indeed that is where it is ?
I have asked the team about The Sharpeners but havent got an answer and I have a feling that they joined because of the original idea of ITS ALL GOOD:) anyway it is all a learning process.
Cheers Cathy

ok I am in the right forum here. There were wome really great go getting members of the team and I invited some others and as soon as these two turned up for some reason the others went cold ( which can happen) but thes new ones are putting a lot into the team and it is not fair that they miss out on the good team points so they have decided to go until the end of the month and if it doesnt change they will leave, well fair enough . Now I am thinking maybe instead of keeping on Inviting people maybe I should disbandon the group but there are a couple who really like the group but play a bit differantly to others so I am in a quandry - should I leave and add to another team or should I keep on just inviting people . It is getting a bit lonely Maybe I should disbandon the team .I know that noone can make that decision for me but I would be grateful for any input thanks Cathy underscored

I'd say the people you should be discussing this with are those other team members - maybe they can take some responsibility for inviting others to the team?

Cathy, maybe it would help to take the players you like and join a previously existing team with some structure for now. Having your own team has a lot of pressure, and it seems like you may enjoy it more just to join a team with some great people that release the pressure, yet let you just enjoy being here for now. Just a suggestion.
