Honestly, I think you and I may keep ending up at an impasse because we are approaching the game differently. I remember you telling me years ago about a former player who decided on a certain path he thought was best to follow and could not be strayed from that path. I'm hoping I've not gone down the same path, but am afraid I might be. I tend to play this game backwards, trying to start at the target and find my way back to wherever we are. I will freely admit this may not be the best way ~ and this is probably proven by the fact that I could never figure out how to successfully play "Six Degrees of IMDb"! I'm thinking this method might work great if I were playing this game by myself, but is not so great when other people are trying to figure out what the heck I'm thinking! ...At any rate, in this instance, there are very few pages that link to "The Documents in the Case", so I figured the easiest way to get there would be to target its author Dorothy L. Sayers, who was Oxford-based and will show up on tons of pages related to Oxford. So my last entry "University" will lead to Oxford and Oxford will lead to Sayers. Does that make sense?START: Nuclear thermal rocket END: The Documents in the Case 1. Nuclear thermal rocket 2. NASA 3. UKSA 4. Swindon 5. Oxford Brookes University 6. Modern language 7. University

Ah, OK. This game is crazy that way, always has been . I've always said: there is no 'wrong' way to get from point A to point B (I reckon the challenge of it comes in the shifting of how each player sees their path forming and the fun comes when the two paths somehow converge). The "backwards" strategy is interesting! I kinda think I do that sometimes, too, but I try all kinds of loops and avenues when things progress down here. Some work, some don't (of course). I'm never too sure if I'm very good at this game, quite frankly. I do like playing it, though . This Dorothy Sayer example is a somewhat classic showcase of skinning the same cat in two different ways, it's looking like. Typically I start in generic places as a target ... so I saw a novel's title by a known author? I instinctively steered towards books/authors/literature (as best I could think of to try, anyway) in hopes of getting to specifics once that ballpark was reached. Your "Oxford" connection is much smarter -- and would easily be much quicker, too, except for the tiny *oops* that I hadn't read enough (yet) on Dorothy's page to have made such a connection. I make that *oops* all the time . It would have come to me eventually (I hope) but wasn't in my head yet at all. I'll follow your lead now, and we'll wrap 'er up in a hurry, yes? Snort ~ as is my current pattern I've typed enough here that my arm is done, but I'll resume the list once it starts working semi-right again. It's cool, really. Six Degrees is a nifty mix of luck, horse sense and mind-reading! I love how it gets a mixed set of gray cells working in some sort of weird tandem. And you're right about that IMDb version as well. Same game format to the letter ... but an entirely different ballpark at the same time?! Anyway, now that we're all sorted and on a similar agenda, I'll get back to this in an hour or two .

I, too, really enjoy watching the various answers come in and waiting for it all to gel in a single path! Do you ever use the Toolbox feature on Wikipedia? The "What links here" section is very helpful to me in seeing what sorts of pages will be most helpful down the line. I also always check it before selecting a new "START" target to make sure the target isn't so obscure that it will be almost impossible to get to.
