dg_dave Star Poster Registered: Sun Oct 05 2003 Posts: 17750 Loc: Dallas, TX USA	MLB 2012 Tipping Comp The MLB 2012 season will begin soon. The rules are as follows: 1. One point for a correct tip. You may tip home or away (there are NO ties in baseball - games go into extra innings to determine a winner, even if they play 18+ total innings - there was one a few years ago that went 20 before a winner was decided). Note: suspended games from Friday are not included in Saturday counts. 2. Deadlines are Thursday midnight FT (6am* London, 10:30am India, 3pm* Sydney, 5pm* NZ) with a two hour period of grace. The final week's deadline will be Tuesday midnight FT, since that week will be Wednesday games. Stars are noted by places that DO observe daylight saving time. 3. There will be a one point deduction if tips are posted after the grace period. Default will be the higher of six points or Wooden Spoon score (new for 2012), and will be your score if you tip after the first game starts, which will be about 36 hours after deadline. 4. If you default for four (4) straight weeks, you will be considered an inactive tipper (you will not be dropped from the league) and will score default until you return. If an inactive tipper's score is the lowest and tips, their score will jump to the lowest active tipper's score. Note: We will tip the Saturday games each week, excluding the final day of the season (Wed). The season will not begin on Sunday as it has in years past, nor will it end on a Sunday. We will not tip the opening games on Wednesday or Thursday; it will start with the first Saturday games. Bonus points: 1. One bonus point for picking a result solo, or one of two (12 minimum tippers to apply). 2. One bonus point if no more than two games are missed (one game may be postponed (games may be postponed due to weather (rain or snow) in baseball) to earn this point). In the case of two games postponed, one miss will earn a bonus. Three postponements or more do not earn a bonus. (i.e., 12+/13, 12+/14, 13+/15) 3. Tips of all homes or all homes bar one are ineligible for any bonus points. In case of Friday postponements, the FIRST of the Saturday games will be the one counted for our comp, as per MLB rule 4.13f. Sign up here if you are interested. Spanishliz takes the first weekly win this year and is atop the standings, and she was one of two to pick up a bonus point (illiniman14 was the other).

Illiniman14 was late, and thus lost a point, but his bonus point countered that.

As a Texas Rangers fan, thankfully everyone went for them, but sadly, no one got that game.

**A reminder: any inactive tippers will continue to receive default scores weekly. If they are in last place and 2nd last is several points ahead, they will automatically default to the 2nd last score.

Outside of the top three and bottom two, almost everyone else went like a pack of cards and shuffled places this week.

This week's late bug hit gtho4, who tipped at after 8:30am FT Friday...dg_dave tipped last week at 5am FT Friday and took the hit.

Our tipping percentage of just under 52% is reflective upon mostly sevens and eights score this week; with 15 games, half is 7½.

N-Bomb is the first to tip double digits correctly this season, and his efforts took him up the table by quite a few placings.

This may be near the only time that the cellar dweller and overall leader have scores half/double one another. As an aside, I am willing to give it to anyone else.

Only one decided to hit double digits this week, and she was the only one to gain a win from her effort. The ones with nine are probably seething about it.

There were no tippers like the pitching at Safeco this week, although a few games came within three.

What did spanishliz know about the World Series champions losing that the rest of us didn't? At least nine picked the AL Champions, who happen to have the best record in the league at the moment, to win.

Dizart's showing dropped him into the cellar, and I made sure to keep it clean for him.

Apologies to srini701...I reversed him and Bx originally.

We had our best week yet by nearly 10% and 2 tippers shined above the rest as both George95 and wwe84 scored perfect pick bonus points by picking 12 of the 14 games.

With our high percentage there were no solo picks, but we did all get the Cincinnati win correct.

The rankings saw a lot of movement this week, with wwe94 jumping from 9th to 3rd and George95 leap frogging almost half the field, going from 15th to 7th. In sliding back news srini slid from 5th to 12th and ozzz2002 fell back to 14th from 9th.

Spanishliz and Howie held their 1-2 positions with Howie inching 1 notch closer to the season lead.

HoFs went to the aforementioned wwe84 and George95 for their 12s, while the spoons went to dg_dave and ozzz2002 with 6 a piece.

**A reminder: any inactive tippers will continue to receive default scores weekly. If they are in last place and 2nd last is several points ahead, they will automatically default to the 2nd last score.

Another reminder: games can be postponed due to precipitation, so there may not always be 15 games scored. This week was proof of that as the Royals at Twins game was postponed, we miss you homerdome.
