Whew! At the 2nd pit stop. Not sure how I feel about this 24 hour wait. Okay, I actually think I like it. I'll be to bed at an early hour tonight and refreshed for work. The "pass" badge gave me 50 mini badges and another badge for "Nifty Fifty". Good night and a lot of fun. Thank you to all involved in bringing The Great Quiz Race to life.

As soon as I am able, I will move on... I think I know exactly how to get the frog and fish, I just need to wait until I am able to get them. :-)

I'm not sure there's any way you could know. It's certainly unorthodox and a lot of important things need to fall into place.

I just have to ask, because I am personally really pushing to be towards the top of this new challenge. How much of a disadvantage is it to not have run the race before? I know that there are quizzes that the previous runners get credit for automatically because they wrote them, and there was obviously an advantage for the password. Other than that, will the other badgelets be exponentially harder if we haven't run it before?

there was obviously an advantage for the password There is no advantage for the password. Everything regarding the password was added in specifically for the 'Great Race' and not as part of the original authoring race. Not even the authors involved should know the password or how to access it. Other than that, will the other badgelets be exponentially harder if we haven't run it before? The only advantage a player may have is if they either (a) created any of the quizzes involved, in which case more power to them-- they certainly earned their one checkmark-- or (b) they played the quizzes before, when they were released, and scored enough to satisfy the requirements of the task. They could not have known this beforehand; we didn't even know we were making a companion race for players until about three weeks ago. They would have the same advantage as a player who's played enough quizzes on the site to meet the expectations of the scavenger hunts (eg. Cats, Lizards, Party Time, etc.). We can't really control that though and, again, more power to the players who randomly played the right quizzes however long in advance. We want our players to be playing all the quizzes. What I'm trying to say is that no advantages were planned beforehand if there are any at all. There's enough variety throughout the Great Race to leave even the authors of the original race without a clue in some instances. The only people to know the hidden twists and turns are myself, Wes, and Terry.

Ok, I just know the password badge made a comment from the "sneaky" section of the password award, which allowed as how previous racers could have known the order of quizzes. (Edited, because that may be a clue for those that may not have reached the level.)

actually, to tell you the truth, my set of quizzes in no way would have given a clue as to what the password was. But after trial and error, I went "doh!" since it would have made sense for another set lol.
However, I am getting concerned that I haven't seen a fish or a frog yet LOL

Does the 'password' for advancement change every two hours to coincide with your next attempt to select the correct one? I've been stuck for the last 24 hours and have selected each and every one but still don't seem to be able to move forward... I'm starting to get a bit p****d with it now The password is not random. Even if you didn't do something while you were playing previous quizzes, you can still work it out. EDIT TO ADD: Ok, I just know the password badge made a comment from the "sneaky" section of the password award, which allowed as how previous racers could have known the order of quizzes. (Edited, because that may be a clue for those that may not have reached the level.) I think anyone who played the quizzes before something happened would have been a disadvantage. I could have figured it out "the sneaky way" if I was clever enough.

I participated in the race and still got stuck on that password. Once I re-did the quizzes, I had an 'ooooooooh' moment, then promptly smacked my head against the wall for not paying attention and getting it in the first place!

Actually, I think the thing was added just before the Great Quiz Race started, so I don't think you missed anything. But that just proves my point. Although you could have done it the sneaky way, but I didn't, and I checked in on the race every day!

The Pit Stops mirror the actual Amazing Race show. Everyone will be able to finish, there are just some obligatory resting points along the way.

I could be wrong, but I think it is finished. Terry has the first badge...

I could be wrong, but I think it is finished. Terry has the first badge... Then again, he has been known to give out badges himself, rather than have them awarded automatically. (I wonder if Kyle ever noticed...) EDIT TO ADD: I'm sure it's finished though.

(I wonder if Kyle ever noticed...) Maybe, but in this case, I think Terry was the one who tested that everything would work because this Race is different from anything else on the site. I think he got the first badges legitimately for being the first guinea pig to survive the race!

I'm sure it's finished though. It is. Or time travel. Maybe that's part of the race. I believe it is too.
