Still in the right direction...1½ pounds since last Sunday. If I can do that again this week, I'll be an even 19 stone (19 stone 1½ pounds this week). That's a total of 32 since December 1.

Well, I had a wonderful weekend, and I'd been picking all week before the weekend. And I've only put a pound on, making me Nine stone twelve and a half pounds! Although I ate what I wanted over the weekend, I also did a fair bit of walking, which probably helped the very slight gain smile I'm very happy with that!

Down .4 kg - still a snail's pace, but the right direction.

Dave, you are doing great!
Jane. It sounds like you enjoyed your weekend. That is also great!

Another two pounds this week to put me ½ pound under 19 stone.

Nice work on your part too, pitegny.

That and playing the Wii twice a week. I've also been watching total caloric intake, and limiting myself to a specific number daily. I do go over rarely, and if I do, it's less than 100 over (I've logged everything (by calorie count and type) since January 1, and if I can't find the calorie counts anywhere (including online) I don't eat it). The first few weeks were hard as it was a new thing (through December), but 4½ months later it's much easier.

Edit to add: I do have something sweet every day too!

Another .3 kg down. I'm taking the slow road these days. I have had a really, really rotten virus or cold that had me in bed for a week and all my parts dragging on the floor. I have not been up to walking and have been pouring in tea with loads of lemon and honey and occasionally sugar. Not good for the calorie count, but did help the congestion. We have a weekend trip with friends to Dijon coming up that will likely set me back, but after that I hope to be more rigorous.

I would like to drop fifteen to twenty kilos by the end of the summer, so need to get on the move. Your programme sounds really good Dave.

Same result as last week, and down a total of 36 pounds since December. I'm currently at 18 stone 11½ pounds.

Great results Dave and Jane!

I thoroughly enjoyed a weekend of gourmet meals and wine tasting with our friends in the Burgundy region, but still hope to show some loss by the end of the week. I chose my dishes pretty carefully and walked tons. The bikers in the group did 30 km one day in hilly terrain and 54 km the next along the canals. If I could do that, the pounds would float away; however, seeing their pain at the end of the day convinced me that a snail's pace is not so bad after all.

I wonder if I may go up on the drop next week. I hit the 20,000 step plateau today (currently at 20,004 and could be closer to 20,250 by bedtime). My feet hurt like you wouldn't believe, but I did it!

I was shooting for 17,500 to break my old record of 16,656, but wasn't expecting a nearly 3,400 step rise!

Dave, your last message was so inspiring that I hunted back through the old messages to find the name of your counter and ordered one. I was pleasantly surprised to find it here in France. If I am anywhere near 10,000 steps per day I will be highly surprised, but having something to motivate sounds good.

Final count was 20,325. Now that is a record worth breaking sometime...but it will be tough!

Amazing record Dave!

I was only .2 kg down again this week. The slugs going after the basil in my garden are faster. Though given the gourmet weekend, it could have been worse. The fact that I love food, whether cooking, eating, reading cookbooks or collecting recipes is a major handicap. I am waiting for one of your magic counters to arrive. Hopefully that will speed things up.

My counter arrived and I set it up on the computer. Now I'm ready to roll tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration. It is kind of neat to be able to track the steps and stairs.

This week is already looking better. My husband had a colon exam toward the end of last week and needed a liquid diet in advance. I prepared him a home made chicken broth and planned on eating the poached chicken and vegetables myself. It was really tasty, so I made another big batch and am substituting it for one meal per day. Our weekend trip also gave me ideas for some cold soups, which will help the dieting.

No change in the drop on the week, even with that 20k+ day. I'm currently at 18 stone 9½ pounds.

If it drops the same amount next week, I will have dropped 40 pounds!

Amazing - both the weight loss and the 20+k day. Having the Fitbit counting makes me realize exactly how far that is. Forty minutes of walking only got me 7,000. Keep up the good work.

I haven't checked in in months, but I'm pleased to say that I've lost about 12 lbs since I started my diet. I got really depressed when I tore one of the muscles in my leg and had to stop going to the gym because I thought that all my progress would be lost, but I've even managed to lose a couple of pounds since then! smile

It was the best at work today when my coworker commented that my weight loss is starting to really show!

That's always a nice boost, LadyC smile

Same old same old with me with weight. I have a sore knee at the moment - I really should get it checked out as it's been a good few weeks. Have been busy farmwise but want to get back into the exercise but will need to get the knee sorted.
I'm a bit worried it's somethign like arthritis as my knuckles have a similar pain. Uhoh. I'm FAR too young for that! wink

Did another 20,000 day yesterday, just exceeding it by 32 this time, but dropped another 2½ this week to sit at 18 stone 7 pounds. I've dropped 40½ total now.

I enjoyed myself over the Jubilee four-day weekend, but got straight back on the "diet wagon" on the Wednesday. Extremely happy with a quarter of pound loss in two weeks (I am pretty sure I would have a gain if I hadn't started immediately smile ) making me Nine stone eleven pounds laugh

Did yet another 20,000 day yesterday, and smoked my record of 20,325 (ended at 22,513), and dropped another 2½ this week to sit at 18 stone 4½ pounds. That's 43 off since December 1!

edit to add: I hit ten out of eleven leaves yesterday on the counter too!

Dave, you are amazing! I don't know how you do it. You must walk for hours.

The first week with FitBit I managed one 7,000+ day, but other than that it was pretty slow. I didn't always remember to wear it and, as we are still sorting through our accumulated papers and clutter, I was sitting a lot. The counter made me realize just how few steps I take in a day when I don't make a special effort to walk.

Then Thursday we headed to London for a quick visit to see my son and his girlfriend. The first day of touring I hit 11,000+ steps and 27 flights of stairs. The next two days were about the same. My feet and legs were in agony, but I was pleased to see the numbers on the counter mounting up. It almost made the pain worthwhile (stress on almost). I was eager to load the results up to the website, but didn't have access to my regular computer. That's when I had the not so bright idea of downloading the counter software onto my husband's laptop so I could synch during my trip. To my dismay, it synced but only after wiping out everything in the counter's memory. I was so discouraged that I forgot to wear the counter on the last day, so none of my London walking counted.

Back home, I could hardly move today, so I was back under 2,000 steps.

I will be pleased if I can start averaging 9,000-10,000 per day, but do not see myself ever hitting 20,000 per day unless I find some miracle shoes.

I didn't weigh last week, but think that the walking at least avoided weight gain from the lovely Lebanese, Indian and Persian meals we had, not to mention a pub lunch and some fish and chips.

Saturday, I went and had some maintenance done on my car, and the closest place to eat (it was about 1:15pm) is about 1.2 miles away. That adds about 2,500 steps each way, or about 5,000 total. By the time I got my car back, as I had done quite a bit of moving at work (was already over 5,000 steps by then), the counter had me over 11,000. I then went that evening (after about a 4½ hour break) and walked at Galleria Dallas. By the time I left there about 9pm, I was already over 20,000.

I remember the first time I did 20,000, my feet hurt, but this past Saturday, they were actually doing fine, and at one point, the counter had said I was at 9.6 miles, so I was determined to hit 10 miles.

Down another .6 kg this week, not bad given the London meals.

I am still sitting way too much. I am doing volunteer screening for a human rights fellowship that has me sitting for really long stretches answering queries from potential candidates and dealing with problems.

FT is also a little to blame. I did the Great Race which had me at my computer for long stretches. I want to go for the endurance badge soon which means there will be almost zero walking that day. But, I wouldn't be in this chat forum if it weren't for my love of trivia.

Even a twenty minute walk doesn't get me above 3,000, so I am going to have to get more serious if I want to earn more counter leaves.

Copago, I hope your knee is better.

Been a bit under the weather this week, but wasn't hit that hard until yesterday (I slept a lot in the middle of the afternoon), but dropped another 2½ this week to 18 stone 2 pounds. That's 45½ pounds since the beginning.

I didn't get my Saturday walk in, mainly because I felt so bad. I feel a lot better today, but most of the malls close at 6 (one is open until 7).

Sorry to hear you were ill.

My Fitbit experience is temporarily on hold. I was walking with it on the weekend and had not attached it properly. It fell off and I am not sure where. I keep picturing it lying abandoned and flashing "Hi LBR walk me". I don't want to buy another one until I am sure it is gone for good. We had little kids here on the weekend and it may be lurking somewhere in the grass where we were playing with them, but so far no sign of it.

Rather disappointed as for the last two weeks I've been Nine Stone twelve and a half pounds frown And I've been really good too! Never mind, a new week ahead smile
Good luck to all with their weight loss this coming week!
