None so mad as the British. Rain or no rain the street party had to go on, smaller than intended and with the tables etc in front of my neighbour's garage.

(Thank you for the lovely comments, guys).

That cake looks delicious, Jane.
Last day of the jubilee celebrations, and didn't they do it well! My mother is English and threw a jubilee afternoon tea with strawberries-&-cream fairy cakes (she refuses to say cupcakes.)

Sue, that's a great photo, it suddenly brought me back to my childhood and a BBQ in the rain, huddled in the neighbour's garage wearing anoraks, and with the metal door open like an awning... Is it needless to say I spent my childhood in England? lol Good memories.

mmmmm cakes! They look lovely.
We used to call them fairy cakes when I was a kid but it seems to have gone out of usage. confused

This gorgeous little thing is Boomer, a ten week old Rhodesian Ridgeback who managed to sleep through all the action. (nearly all day every day lol)

The position one of those sheep has his leg in the shearer needs to be a bit careful.

Looking at the pictures and I wish I was at Sue's yesterday eating a strawberries-&-cream fairy cake! I watched a lot of the festivities on tv last night.

Maybe someone can answer this question I've been wondering about. On Sept 10, 2015 she (God willing) will pass Queen Victoria as Britain's longest reigning monarch. Do you think there will be a large national celebration also?

Copago- Boomer is only 10 weeks old. How big is he going to get?

Tori, don't know the answer to that one. I havn't heard about anything being planned, but at her age perhaps they have unpublished plans in place but don't want to let anyone know them yet in case she doesn't make it. Most of the Jubilee stuff was only announced last year. I would think something would be done to mark the event.

You're right, most of the jubilee stuff was only announced last year but had been planned for at least 2 years (the concert etc) so I'm sure they'll let us underlings know in time to celebrate if they have plans.

I have a few from a local event but they all have a lot of people in them, too many to blank out all the recognisable faces. Perhaps others have the same problem. I think the same will happen with the torch relay photos I intend to take when it comes through Rayleigh.

I did show some bunting, and have a few more of it as I passed through the villages.
I was always fascinated by flyovers as a child, especially so when they built two three deckers near me in the 70s. This is the A1 going over the local road in Biggleswade.

Yes, I have photos of the olympic torch going through the town near us. Far too many faces to post here though. frown
