I just "upgraded" to a LG Spetrum last evening. Is there an FT app that can be downloaded and appear in my phone's list of appps. I've tried searching through the apps search engine on my phone, but to no avail. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

There is no FT app but there is a mobile version of the site.

I have an iPhone, but like Kyle said, there is no app for it. I looked in the store. When I began accessing FunTrivia on my phone, however, the first few times a box at the bottom of the screen popped up to suggest I download (may have said something other than download) the mobile version for my phone. Now, I have a direct link to the mobile version of the site on my phone instead of having to type the url into the web browser.

Tiff, can you actually play quizzes from your phone?

Sure can! I can play the games, too. There are certain links that don't work from my phone, like the Queue Size chart, but I can pretty much do anyting on the site except crosswords. I usually end up playing our private tournament from my phone because my dad is on the computer a lot! lol

I receive no such prompt on my phone when I access FT. How do you access the mobile version?

The first couple of times I just went to my web browser and went to funtrivia.com. Now I have the icon on my phone's homescreen. I just remember the prompt for putting it on my homescreen slid up from the bottom of the page, but I really don't remember everything it said. It has been a few months. I'm sorry I can't really be that helpful frown

Here was Terry's note from October. I personally don't have a phone that accesses the internet, but perhaps this is of some use to someone:

Subject: FunTrivia / iPhones / iPads
Date: Oct 12 11
Hi everyone!

Well I finally joined the apple cult and picked up an iPad the other day, and immediately fell in love with it.

I've thought long and hard (for a couple of years to be honest) about creating app store apps for the website, but it always seemed a little silly for us to build something that will quickly go out of date, or something that duplicates what we've already got on this site.

For those who didn't know, we do have a mobile version of FunTrivia which appears on iPhones. Simply go to www.funtrivia.com in the browser.

The mobile version strips out a lot of unnecessary text, and makes answering quizzes easier. You can actually play many of our games just fine using it. Since Apple hates Flash, you can't play quizzes in "Game mode", but all of the HTML quizzes work fine.

I've built in a "Quick Question" feature to the mobile site, so that when you're bored waiting in a line you can whip out your phone, head to funtrivia.com and answer some questions.

The iPad is much the same, and the site looks pretty good on it given the large display.

I will be tweaking things to work even better with the iPad now that I've got one to play with. For example, I will hide links to stuff that doesn't work such as the flash interfaces.

You can also add FunTrivia to your "home screen" on both the iPad and iPhone. Simply click the "arrow" or "plus" button from within safari browser, and select "add to home screen". It's pretty cool.

As for Android, I'll probably enable our iPhone mobile application on those devices so that you get a better small screen experience.

FunTrivia on other tablet products should work just fine too (perhaps better if they support flash!).

Anyway, hope you explore FunTrivia on your devices as well as your PCs!

Terry

Thanks for reposting that, Jakeroo. I've just recently gotten an Android phone, and it is the reason I can connect to the Internet with my laptop from my aunt's (she's 87 and has no internet) because I've managed to create a mobile hotspot using my phone.

This world of technology is really crazy! Anyway, I will try to see how it is playing on my phone directly, as when I am traveling, it is not always possible to take out the laptop and playing on the phone itself would be great.

Okay, I've added FT to my favorites, but no way to add as an icon on my particular smart phone at present.

Also just played the quiz of the hour on it to test out playing. I am slow on it, but it can be done. I think I will try when I find myself far from my laptop or PC and a GC round is coming close to an end.

smile
