Today the topic for the Heroes Game was "1980s Music". How about some questions about "1940s" Music"? The retired people like myself would LOVE that! People like myself (78 years old) don't recognize the newer music. ---Sea

I think that there ARE questions about 1940s music. However, the topic was 1980s music, so you will only get questions about music from the '80s. The '40s' music's turn may come some other time.

Also, there's no problem with diving in and creating your own! And then there's me, who doesn't even recognize 80s music. :-P Come now, you've never heard Take on Me (still an awesome video 25+ years later) or Hit Me with Your Best Shot? edit to add: 14/15 in that game today. Who says I don't like 80's music?

Nobody gave away answers or questions though,
Wait, are you saying a-ha because you knew I'd know one, or is that saying that A-Ha sang the first song? :-P

I thought I'd seen it all... Then I watched the Take On Me video. Half comic book, and what's with the pipe wrenches?
What a bizarre song.

The Team Heroes categories vary - some you'll like and others you won't. There are quizzes on 1930s and 1940s music, though. You need to look under 'music mixture' then 'music by year'. And you can also try the "Great American Songbook" category - most of the music there is from the golden age and there are some really good quizzes on some great music tucked away in that sub-category.

Some names I've encountered here from the music field showing that a variety of sources from way back when gets asked about: Tommy Dorsey Benny Goodman Cole Porter Irving Berlin Clint Eastwood Cab Calloway Fats Wallah Louis Armstrong Merv Griffin Billie Holiday Gilbert and Sullivan Stephen Foster Francis Scott Key Tex Ritter Gene Autry Gene Kelly Bing Crosby Frank Sinatra The Andrews Sisters Judy Garland George M Cohan Al Jolson Howard Keel Jeanette MacDonald Nelson Eddy Bob Crosby and the "Bob-Cats" Well maybe no one's asked about the "Bob-Cats"

Seadancer, please stop using bold for an entire comment - it should be used only for emphasis. It's a bit like using all capital letters, it makes me think you're shouting.
And frankly, if 1940s music shows up in Heroes, I shall avoid it like the plague. It was played through my childhood in the 50s and I've hated big band music ever since.

Back in the day, that video was way ahead of its time. Now we are way ahead of its time, it looks very dated Any time I watch that video now, it rewinds me back to 1985 when the song came out.

There seem to be only 4 quizzes in 1940's Music, so that would not make a very large question pool to draw from. So we may have to write more music quizzes in this subcategory. I'm not that into such novelties. The music from my youth is the fifties - 1850's, that is. JK.

How about some Gregorian Chants? Let's go REALLY far back in history!
